Cool Creating a track list on a USB Stick

Hi I tried to find something about this in the forums but can't seem to find anything. I have a lot of music on my USB stick that I don't always want to listen to. I am wondering if there is a simple way to create a playlist of songs that I might be in the mood to hear without deleting the rest of the music or having to skip songs. I have a 2014 Streetglide that I have upgraded the stereo to stage 2 with the saddlebag speakers etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From others here on the board with the recommendation on this software

Playlist Creator 3.6.2

Used it a couple of weeks ago and it worked like a charm.

Windows Media Player can be used, also.

What I have done is plug my jump stick into my computer and go thru the songs I really like and change the "genre" of those songs to one of the genre selection in the Infotainment system.

To perhaps try and explain a little better, when my jump stick is "plugged" into my computer and I click on a song, at the bottom of the computer screen I am able change the information in the "Contributing artists" field as well as the "Genre" field. I might change that field to Jazz (even though it isn't a jazz song) and do the same to all the other songs that I might specifically want to hear. Then when I plug the jump stick back into the USB port on the bike's Infotainment system I click on the genre option and click on "jazz". I believe in the Infotainment system you can then switch back to "All" songs.

Hope this makes sense and addresses your question.

I was able to create the playlist with this software but it is not recognized by boom audio when I plug the stick into the bike. Is there something I have to do so the stereo can read it? It shows in the playlist selection but will not play the music.

I tried this too and was able to change the genre and when I plug it back into the bike it lets me chose that genre but am not able to "Play all" it makes me chose an artist & will only play those songs

Personally I do not like the way that Boom searches through its tracks. The Sony you put them in folders by Genre, Artist what ever you want.

You can use MP3Tag to change the "tag line" parameters of each song in your entire library. For example;
Plug your USB drive into your computer
Create a new folder on the USB drive and name the folder whatever you want (like rap playlist, rock playlist, favorites or even just playlist 1)
Go through all of your other music files on the thumb drive and copy all that you want to include into your new folder
Now open all of the files in that playlist folder using MP3Tag
Change the tag line parameters of all the music files in that folder. You could rename the album to Playlist 1, or rename the genre to Playlist 1, or you could even do both. Once you do that your playlist is searchable via the stock head unit searching either by album name (i.e. Playlist 1) or genre (i.e. Playlist 1) or even both if chose to change both tags.

IMHO this is the easiest way to create custom playlists that are guaranteed to work every time. The only two drawbacks; 1. you're using more space on the thumb drive because the same music file exists in two places, 2. since the music file exists in two locations it will show up twice in your "all songs list".
