Sony XAV-AX5000
Mmats MD4110
Mmats 601cx in fairing
Mmats 690.4cx in lids
First dumb question: Is the ground wire for the amp hooked to the negative terminal of the battery or a random ground bolt on the bike? All videos I’ve seen show battery but the MMATS manual says bike. Whenever I’ve done car audio it’s always been a ground bolt.
Just have a couple of quick questions regarding tuning this amp. I’m seeing and reading on most videos that the amp should be in HPF set at 80. However, the Sony HU has both HPF and LPF settings which is currently set at 80Hz and 100Hz respectively. Is this what I want to set it at and should I leave the amp set at Full?
This may be a dumb question, but is it normal to have some noise coming out of the speakers when there isn’t music playing? It may just be the sound of them being powered by the amp but the boom system didn’t do it. I also get a very minor pop when switching between sources on the head unit.
Hey man definitely run the ground back to the battery. As far as tuning I have no experience with the Sony but if you can adjust the front and rear hpf's then I'd leave the amps at all/full pass and tweak it in the head unit. Hope this helps
I also have a very similar setup except I have 4 of the 601cx and I run the 4110 in full pass and use the cutoff on the Sony. But I can get away with that because I have 4 of the same speakers. You probably should try IAs advice.
I have the same set up. I turned the hi/low pass off on the sony and set the high pass on the 601cx at 120 and the high pass on the 690s at 80.
Hook your ground to your battery.
I just looked up the specs on the Sony and it says the front and rear hpf's are individually adjustable so why use the amps for your filter? Just curious

I like the eq on the Sony but I dont like the filters on it. I feel the filters on the amp are a lot better. Thats just imo
