Blown speaker need advise
2015 Road Glide
Sony XAV 5000 head unit from Biketronics
Hertz HCX 165s in fairing
MMats PA 601-4 in lower fairings
SS pn41000.d amp
The Hertz speakers were sounding awesome but now sounds like the left Hertz speaker in fairing is blown. Get volume setting above 30 on a song with any bass it sounds like its spitting at you. The Mmats in the lowers just sound awful to me. Very tinny sound is best way to explain it I guess. I've adjusted crossovers on them and can make them sound better but not what I would ever call good.
I'd like to be able to just trade out speakers and get some better sound if possible.
What would be the best 4 speaker change for this amp for front fairings and lowers since I don't want to do lids? Or am I wasting time and money keeping the amp looking for better sound?
Thanks for any advice
Sound is clear on the road other than the now blown speaker but it's all coming from the fairing speakers. Lowers just don't sound good. I could be looking for something that just isn't possible coming from the lowers. Someone suggested Ground zero's but damn they are high! Especially not knowing what I am getting before purchase.
May have to take it and have it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing but would like to avoid that if possible. Just hoping to find right speaker combo to replace these.

To clarify, are you running the PA601.4cx (coaxial), or the PA601.4, which cap at 5kHz? I have the MMATS PA601.4cx in my fairing. Using BT355 line levelers AND my amp's crossover set around 95Hz, the MMATS made my ears bleed. (Lesson learned about over-filtering a signal) They are a very bright speaker to begin with. I took out the line leveler and fed the amp straight from the factory HU. High-passed them from the amp at 100Hz, now they sound MUCH more full. Let's just say lots closer to what I was expecting from them. It sounds like a different amp with more signal processing capabilities, or a DSP might not be a bad road to tread down, especially when tuning two different animals to sound good together. The MMATS are capable of 120Hz - 20kHz. (I know their box says 100Hz, but the website states differently, would err on the side of higher than lower) Also, with a DSP you can cap the highs on them like ZX2BY2U suggested. Overall, I don't think they're a BAD speaker, but I'm not floored by them at the moment. I had the same perception of them as you, until I fed them a fatter signal. Again, be sure your gains aren't set too high. That will make any speaker sound like sh*t. Just my
BTW, Just bought an Arc PSM the other day. Waiting for it's arrival. Will update as to the MMATS sound quality after some fine tuning EQ action

They aren't the cx. Just the 601.4. Would you recommend amp swap or dsp?
