Upgraded my audio this winter. Here's what I'm running in my 2012 Ultra Classic...RF TM400X4ad amp, Hertz HCX165's in the fairing & Polk MM652's in the TP pods. Ive got my system working well and am quite pleased with it! I should also mention that I had to add (inline between the stock HU with Iron Cross Preamp outputs & the RF amp) a couple of PAC LD-10 (10x booster/line driver) to boost the low level signals from the HU in order to get the RF amp to work properly.
I have now however encountered an issue with my CB. I know not many here are fans of the good old CB but I still use it on occasion. One such occasion, I'm heading out for a 10 day run next week and the other riders all use their CB so it would be handy to get mine working properly again. It worked flawlessly prior to my audio upgrade. Went to use it yesterday for the first time and when I turn it on, Im getting nothing but tons of static. The music should be playing and the CB will over ride it when I either push to talk" or it receives an incoming signal. This is how its always worked for me in the past. I can listen to music through the headset (or speakers) normally...BUT when the CB is switched on, now all I get is static and lots of it through the headset & speakers. Funny thing is, when the CB is on with static blaring, if I flip the ignition switch from Ignition to Acc" (and back & forth), I get the music perfect for a second or two but then back to tons of static?? And if I move the speaker rocker switch to "speakers only", the noise it makes sounds like it will blow them.
Again, this is only an issue when I switch the CB on. Anyone have any ideas on where I should start looking? Hopefully I'm missing something simple here.
Sorry Lefty I just saw your email a little while ago. I listed some things to check there but I thought of a couple more just now.
If you check things I have mentioned and still have the static try unplugging the power to the RF amp and see if you still have static through the headset. This could tell if the CB module is getting RF interference from the amplifier. That dang TM400x4ad gets so hot it's GOT so be spraying out some RF somehow. My CB module is underneath my head unit and my amp (Arc Moto 600.4) is on top, so I wouldn't suspect much interference in that setup.
No worries Hoyt. Similar to you, the RF amp is mounted above the stock HK HU, and the CB module & BT module are both mounted below the HU using a J&M mounting tray.

Groovy. One other thing I forgot to mention is if nothing else seems to help maybe unplug the power to the LD-10s in case they are somehow emitting interference. I'm not too sold on the interference angle because I used to run a SS PN4.1000d and that thing could interfere with a free lunch, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to check that angle.
