Again, the mmats 601 cx have a water "proofing" option added from the factory, though not sure what it is or how well it works...yet....and I think the RF speakers may have something similar.

Water proofing spray
I'm sure a ridiculous question but, do you spray that camp dry stuff through the speaker grill, or take the speakers out and spray them?

Well all seems good. The rain was pretty hard for about 30 minutes right after lunch. Then the sun came out and got hot again. Went out at 5, opened my bags and just a couple oz of water poured out. Turned the bike on, tried to turn the volume all the way down, but it didnt...as the radio was booting up...and it seems to play fine. So tested it on the way home and no issues it seems.

I was more worried about the amp more than the speakers, but I'll be taking some extra preventative measures when I install those LL's.

Thanks all.

I'm sure taking the grills off would give you a better coat of the spray on the speakers themselves.

Parts Express sells a melatone speaker grill cloth that u can treat with camp dry and cover the face of the speaker during the install and an additional layer of protection.

Ahh thanks. I think I'll add this to my shopping list then. Would you just glue this on the inside of the speaker grills? Glue around the edges I mean? or glue it around the edges of the speaker frame itself. Trying to figure out how to secure the cloth in some way.

Also you would you treat this cloth AND the speakers for extra protection?

The install process varies for the speaker location. For 6x9s face mounted in the lids I just pull this across the face of the speaker nice and tight, mark speaker holes, poke holes with an all, insert the screws, put cloth in place, install speaker into mounting holes. I leave the cliched about 1" wider than the speaker and pull it tight as I tighten the mounting screws.

Same process for batwing fairing. No clue about a shark fairing but I'm betting guys have gotten creative to make that work as well.

And yes, would not hurt at all to treat the speaker and the cloth. Usually a few coats of scotch guard / camp dry on the cloth.

Cool, I'll give that a shot.
Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it!

Thanks for question. Unfortunately that is not my speaker. Rob Farnsworth from Paradice cycle posted that on Facebook. He talked about a adhesion promoter and a water seal.
