The chopping has begun. Working on brackets to get 2 large amps in the speaker pod locations for my 19 RGS. We've removed pods and vents. We tried our best to not hack away at the inner fairing bracket. We ran out of time yesterday but we trimmed the bracket that holds the radio. We took a little over an inch off the bracket. In doing so we can bring the amp closer and raise the amp enough so the amp will not touch the bottom of the fairing.
I purchased the bracket off chinabay that eliminated the fairing support on the highway bar. I suggest not buying it as it doesn't line up at all. We are going to have to heavily modify it or scrap it entirely. Buy the yeffe version. Pics will be posted later today.
Also if this route doesn't work as far as fitment goes. I might have to purchase 8inch pods for the fairing for more vertical and depth clearance for speaker install. Hopefully this time around we can get a fit, with a custom bracket for a speaker ring.
It can be done without having to hack up the pods. Ive fit a 1600.1, two 800.4, one Diamond Micro and a DSP in the fairing with the pods in place. Close to 4K watts. Did take a little trimming of the inner fairing bracket.
I'm going for a 1200, 1600, 250, dsp and possibly a 800 all in the fairing. The 1200/1600 in pod locations. 250 under radio, I wish the dsi-2 was smaller it's going to be a pain fitting that along with anything bigger than a 400 watt amp. I might have to modify lex's amp tray
