Default Tour pack speaker guidance

Looking for feedback on speakers for the tour pack pods.

Adding biketronics system, but having a hard time finding any info on speakers performing well in the pods.

Thanks.

Well first off pump the brakes on the Biketromics stuff. Tour Pak speakers can be a challenge at speed they tend to get lost. What is your system now and what are you looking for it to do?

Replacing stock speakers, and keeping stock HU. Adding amp. Looking for better sound and volume. I know I have to lean back or turn head to catch sound from behind me at higher speeds.

I have experience with BT, so not afraid to use their product again.

I have Alpine SPR-60 in my rear pods: they drop right in, and I've had no issues running them off my BT4180 for the last few years. No spacer, and the Alpine grilles look pretty good to me, so I'm using them as well (though I did put a couple bar & shield stickers in place of the Alpine stickers on each grille). I have seen where these speakers are discontinued now; not sure how well the replacement model will fit in the pods, but I know for a fact (since they're in mine now) that the SPR-60 fits without a spacer.

If I want, I can move the fader to the rear on the radio (I'm running a Sony XAV-AX5000 in a BT mounting setup) a few spots and it really makes the tour pak speakers much more noticeable- and they're downright loud if I lean backward! My total system is the XAV-AX5000, Biketronics BT4180, Arc Moto 602s in the fairing and the Alpines in the pods. I ran the Alpines in both my '15 Ultra Limited Tour Pak pods (1st pic) and now they're in my '17 Road Glide Ultra pods (2nd pic).

The quick amd easy system and I run it is 4 Mmats 601.cx and a stinger SPX700x4 and the BT 355LL. You will need a spacer for those speakers to fit in the rear pods. This will be loud and clear at 80+ a quick search will bring the above up time and time again. The BT amps and speakers are expensive and wont sound as good.
Mmats = 360.00
Stinger 240.00
BT LL= 90.00
Vtwin adapter =100.00
Amp install 40.00

Another tour pack speaker option would be the PRV 6mb250. They drop in the pods with a factory grill.

I would seriously consider a different amp though. While Biketronics makes a quality product with outstanding customer service, I would opt for something with ***** to adjust gain and high pass filtering.

The bike audio gear is continuously changing these days with plenty of great audio equipment out there. Myself, I think I would be looking beyond the Biketronics amps and speakers as there is better gear out there at comparable, or less prices. Better bang for your buck.
Like Fireball Jack, I'm also running the Mmats 601.cx and stinger as part of my system. They are capable of getting the job done and allowing you to achieve your goals. The Mmats require very little fine tuning which is especially important if you are using your factory HU which lacks an EQ. The Stinger will also give you x-over and gain adjustments that are lacking on the Biketronics amps. That alone will be a benefit for fine tuning your system now, and going forward if you end up making any changes or upgrades down the road.
Lots of other choices out there, just plan ahead with gear that has some flexibility. The Biketronics amps lack that flexibility.

To help pitbull on his quest.....
I'm also curious as to what others are finding for tour pack pod speakers capable of enough volume to keep up with the rest of their system at freeway speeds.
Obviously it depends on what's in the fairing, but what are some of the options capable of above average volume, that will fit in the rear pods, with or without an adapter.

The 4 Mmats speaker system works well, but in order to balance them out, you still end up turning down the front speakers a little and leaving a bit of fairing volume on the table in order to hear the rear speakers. I've overcome the balance issue with a little bigger amp on the tour pack pods in the past.

What's everyone's go to choice for the tour pack?

We know the Mmats 601.cx sounds good, has plenty of volume, and fits with the vtwin speaker adapters.

I believe the Polk 652 mm fits with no adapter, but have never tried them, so hopefully someone else can chime in on their sound quality and volume capabilities.

I've not heard them myself but I've read good things about the PRV 6mb250, although that may have been because it's drop in. I would think the Crescendo un6.5 would work well back there. I guess it's really a big picture thing as usual, I.e. what does the rest of the system consist of.

I have the Polk MM652 in my 2008 pods without adapters - and they just fit in there if twisted a certain way. I am no audiophile, but they are plenty loud for me to hear my stereo clearly rolling down the highway.
