Default Boombox power

I have a 2018 RGS and for the last few days when I start the bike the radio doesn't always come on. I can turn it off and back on and sometimes it powers and sometime it doesn't. Has anyone else experienced this?

I found out it doesn't turn on when it's hot. I have a CV-B52 amp under the radio on a BT shelf. Does the Boombox have thermal protection?

Is you're bike cold when you start it? You mean it gets hot from just the ambient temps? That doesn't sound normal. Some amps have a shutoff mechanism when it gets too hot. Not sure about HU, thought I would bet they do. Still, they have to get pretty hot before they would shut down.

You could try moving your amp. I think that amp is small enough to sit behind the HU on top of the headlight.

I thought about that but it's been running like that for 6 months with no issues. But so far it only fails to power up after a warm start.

My next move would be to pull the fuse on the amp and go ride. If it still does it, the heat from the amp isn't the culprit.

The only time my Boom unit hasn't booted up is when battery power was relatively low. If the bike slow cranks, it won't boot up the radio. Last season my battery was getting weak, not bad yet, but weaker than normal. Installed a new battery, and hasn't done it since.

Not saying that is your issue, just thought I'd throw that out there.

I did inspect the main fuse and noticed some corrosion. I cleaned it up and put some dielectric on it. I'll check the other fuses later. This business of working is overrated.
