He took the time to review what I have and gave me a few options he thought would be a good road map for optimizing what I already have, and what I might want to consider as next steps. I told him right up-front that I wanted to be respectful of his time, since I want to do the installation myself. He didn’t care about not doing the big install, he truly just wanted to help point me in the right direction. To the point that his first suggestion is to just add another Micro8 amp in the fairing to separate the speakers to individual channels, which definitely won’t make him a ton of $.

You can tell that he loves designing motorcycle audio systems and gave me a TON of great information and advice over the phone. I may need to ride it down to Miami this Spring now just to buy him a beer and tell him how much I appreciated him taking the time with me.

Gotta love the biker community!
that’s my boy!! You come down to Miami for the weekend....I’ll tune your bike.

That's definitely worth the trip to Miami right there.

Okay guys, how does this sound for a plan:
  • GTS Head Unit
  • DSR1 (reuse)
  • Lex Rivera amp rack (new) to fit both amps in the fairing
  • SD1200.4-4 Evo X (new)
  • SD1200.4-4 Evo X (new)
  • MO75T horns in grills (new)
  • Hertz MPK 165s in Upper fairing (reuse w/out passive crossover or tweeters)
  • Hertz SV 165s in lowers (reuse)
  • Ground Zero 7x10 in lids (replacing Unity69 and Hertz ST25s to get more bass)
  • 8” Ground Zero Yellow Basket in each saddlebag
SD1200.4-4
  • MPK 165s & MO75T horns = channels 1 & 2 (HP; 24dB; 100Hz) - Ideally, I’d have the MO75Ts on separate channels, but I am trying to avoid the complexity of two DSRs
  • SV 165s = channels 3 & 4 (HP; 24dB; 120Hz)
SD1200.4-4
  • Ground Zero 7x10 = channels 1 & 2 (HP; 24dB; 35Hz)
  • Ground Zero 8” Yellow Baskets = channels 3 & 4 (LP; 24dB; 50Hz)
I could probably power it all with SD800.4-4 Evo X amps (assume I’d have to bridge the 7x10s and 8”s that way) but I thought that going with the 1200s I future proof a bit, but if it’s too much let me know. @haze324 I’m sure the crossover settings will need honing but I thought these might be where I should set them to start.

If you think any component should be reconsidered I’m happy to hear suggestions. Thank you all for your help as I continue to get less and less ignorant.

I would put the horns on a micro amp. Put caps on the lines to cut the low freqs and use the amp gains for volume control to blend.
Also, if running 8” and 7x10 together I would separate their air space.

Thanks InTheWindMN!

Mike U. gave me similar feedback about the 8”s and the 7x10s sharing air space. The 8”s were more my ego f’n with me anyway I think. I’m told that I won’t actually get much from them when riding down the road anyway. Maybe I pull them from phase 1 and run the horns on their one channel from the DSR1. Then if I decide to add 8”s later, I need the speakers, to separate air space, and I assume add another DSR if I go over 8 channels. Probably not worth the cost/effort at this point and I should stick with the 6 speaker setup + horns.
