Default Sony ax7000 regrets?

Thinking about switching out my stock boom. Curious if anyone regrets swithching to the Sony 7000? Seem to make sense to sell the stock HU and the BT line levelers to pay for most of the Sony.

I'm curious as well. Also is there another double din option other than the Sony that people prefer? Alpine, Pioneer,????

I regret waiting so long to make the switch - like with many of the HD sound system items, there is only room for improvement switching away from stock
For myself, one of the biggest improvements came when I ditched the stock Head unit

I'm still hesitant to make the switch to any aftermarket HU for the simple reason that the stock HU is so good at being water resistant. There are some things that suck about the stock unit......especially the boot time! But controls all work well and I personally like the nav once it finally does calculate your route.

I ride quite a bit and dont want to have to worry about getting caught in the rain. When the buzz started about the 7000, it was rumored to be water resistant......this didn't really come to fruition, so I'm glad I help off.

I wanted to keep water resistance as well so I just added a DSP. That made a tremendous improvement in sound quality and gave me more functionality in regards to tuning than an aftermarket head unit would have.

Agree w Hoyt and Teedoff. I made the switch to an Alpine but after the new car smell went away the reality set in that there really is some great functionality w that OEM unit. If u like it from a general & overall perspective then keep it.
Give and take. Pick ur til 3 priorities, do a side by side comparison and make the call from there. As a rider, the audio signal just won't be as earth shattering as it's hyped up to be cause we are in fact on sleds at speed.
Now a DSP would be a very legit add if u were seeking only audio capability improvements.
Hell, for just under a couple hundo, that Dayton is getting very good reviews.

I have the Stock 6.5 HU in as well along with a DSP. As T said we are riders for the most part and for me I look at it this way if I buy an aftermarket HU for say $500 is my system going to sound $500 better going down the road at 50-70mph prob not. I like the functionality of the stock HU for playlist and scrolling through my music as I want it too. If I had room I would have that Dayton in my front end as well to get my horns back on a dsp.

I was thinking that too. Time wise, I'm not sure I want to get into all the tuning aspects of a DSP. I'm sure there are several people that run the same set up as mine that would share their settings to get me close right out of the box.

For me it was an improvement. I had the cheap crappy 4.3 head unit and I wanted navigation and all that. Yes I could have bought a used 6.5 for the same cost of the sony buuut then I would have had the additional cost of the line levers and then a dsp if I went that route. So for my simple 4 speaker set up it was a no brainer for me. I will say though that I do miss the water resistance of the stock head unit. Ended up buying a shimmys cover for my HU.
