Hello all. I'm Mike I am new here as well as new to the Harley world I came from the street bike world, almost 30yrs on 2 wheels.. anyways I purchased a 2018 SGS it has a few things done to it but I'd like to upgrade the Audio. Like I said, I am new to the Harley world and have read a bit on audio systems. what are your suggestions? The dealer says get the Rockford Fosgate Stage 3 400watts 4speaker setup I read good on the Rokker Stage 5 800watt 4 speaker setup. thoughts on those? do I need to spend that much to get good sound? or do you rec a different route? I mainly listen to country and rock. Id like to stay in the 1-2k range thanks in advance
You can get a much better sounding system for the same or less money than the Rokker system, and there are better sounding options than the Rockford system at that price as well.
How many speakers are you planning? Just the fairing or planning on adding lowers or speaker lids down the road?
Sounds like you have a decent budget to work with. Depending on what gear you go with, around $600 should get you started with good amp, decent speakers, wiring, and biketronics BT355 line level to RCA converter. If you decide to add speaker lids or lowers, that will push you over the $1000 mark pretty fast. The skys the limit from there.

I am planning on doing fairing and bags at the same time... I want to try and veer away from having to wire anything and stay as close to Plug'n'Play as I can. I understand that I will probably have to wire in some things in order to utilize better products. I only leaned towards the RF system because of the template for the DIY bags speaker mod and install.. I also do not want to lose any stock functions as far as radio or finger control.. not sure if that'll change or lessen my options. Sorry if I sound very ignorant to this topic but motorcycle stereos seem completely different than Automotive which I am very good at
The so called plug and play system are a scam. You stall have to run a power and ground and speaker wire they jut cut it to length and put on connectors. Can you crimp on connectors? Next is the lids do you want 6x9 or 8's and do you want to cut your lids yourself or by them ready to install?
I would go this rout e for ease of install and it will sound much better than anything you have mentioned.
BT355 line levelers $90
Stinger spx700x4 $175
fairing speakers Mmats 601.4cx $180
Lids 6x9 690.4cx $210
cut and color marched lids by Advanblack $375
Install kit $60
harley remote amp connector $15

ok. Thank you . I'll definitely look into this. And yes I am able to crimp on connectors. I just seen in the RF install video the guy plugging into existing radio harness. I will do a tad more research Thank you

The bt355 plug into your harness and so does the harley remote turn on. Rca plug from BT355 to amp.
next you mount speakers then Power and ground from the battery and then it is just running speaker wire.
Depending on your bike color....buying speaker lids might not be as cost effective as buying the RF speaker lid kit and then swapping out the RF speakers for the mmats. The RF speakers sound reptty good, but will probably get overpowered by the mmats in the fairing. That's the route I took for my bike.....cause my lids were going to be over 500 bucks due to my color.....then I was worried about the color matching.
I then sold my RF lid speakers so think I came out a little better in the long run.
One more question well first off I have the yr of my bike and truck mixed up bike is a 2017 and is a flash to my radio mandatory if I add a amp and speakers? and if so is this "flash" a one time thing or is it required if I decide to do further upgrades in any way?

This sounds like a nice setup, if starting from scratch. I have a 2014 SG with the full 6 speaker, 3 amp Boom 2 system installed by the previous owner. Got 1 blown speaker in the saddlebag lids and 1 speaker not functioning in the fairing (I suspect the amp). Believe it or not, I repaired the torn speaker membrane with flex-seal and it seems ok, for now. I could replace the front amp with a used unit from ebay for about $200. On the other hand, it seems like just a matter of time before I have to replace the whole thing. Suggestions? I'd like to keep my lids (with the 5x7 mounts).
