Default Need some advice on planned system upgrade

To those that can help with some actual personnel experience:

I have a 2017 FLHTKL with a Boom 2 system. I wish to replace it to get a bit better sound and this system isn't providing really good at speed.

I listen to Classic Rock and quite a bit of German Metal/Rock. I do quite a bit of Slab when doing Iron Butt rides and riding between areas worth riding.

I ride on average 20K miles a year rain or shine so water resistance is paramount. I have read just about every thread for the last few years and I have decided on the following but have a few questions.

Stinger SPX700X4
V-Twin Audio Speaker adapters for the TP Pods
Mmats 601cx Fairing
Mmats 601 or 601cx TP Pods

Now for the *** end I have seen folks pick either the Mmats 601 and the 601.cx

What is the recommended speaker and why between the 2 different Mmats for the TP Pods?

Is there any reason to order the Ring & Grill with the Mmats? I can find no information on the grills and rings that Mmats includes.

If I understand everything I have read the 601cx fits in the Fairing pods and I can replace the stock grills back in, and I need the V-twin adapters to make room for the speaker in the TP pods correctly.

I have located a local shop that can flash my headunit to get rid of the HD tune. I am also considering if needed picking up the DSR1 if I decide I wish to really tune the speakers to my liking.

Just want to get the right speakers ordered while the bike is on the lift since I cannot ride at the moment!

Thanks in advance!

I've only used the PA601.4cx so I can't compare the 2 speakers.
No reason to order the grill or ring. You'll be able to use your factory grills for the fairing, and you will need the Vtwin speaker adapters for the tour pack. The adapters come with grills.

For your basic 4 speaker setup you'll want the 601cx in the TP as well. The 601 is a mid range speaker with no tweeter, therefore no upper frequencies. The 601cx is a coaxial with the tweeter included.
