8” Placement
Can I and should I?
i have a 2014 SGS running a SS pn4 1000.d with hertz hcx 6.5s in the fairing (which have to be replaced due to water issue coming back from sturgis).
First, is that set up good enough to push a pair of 8s?
second, placement. I got a set of lowers with the intent to put speakers there; however, after getting them installed and testing it on the highway at 91*, I’m rethinking running lowers year round. Will I really lose out if I have 8s in the lids?
The wife really complains about not hearing mid/lows and not really hearing anything running 80 on the interstate.
thanks in advance for the advice.

You won’t hear ANY lows on the interstate at speed from any location. Just the nature of the beast. The only mids you can achieve is with 8” lowers and depending on what 8” you get, that will be questionable. 8” lids go away at speed, so do 10’s in the bags.
mad far as total volume though, either would be an improvement right?
Yes sir. At low speeds and still you will benefit from the 8’s. If you go 8 coax of some sort in the rears you will hear the mids and highs from the rear and make mama happy too.
That'd work then and worth losing the storage space. With that amp, can i do 8s and horns while still powering the fairing? Or just the 8s? (The wiring, ohms, bridge, parallel, etc. - my brain does not want to cooperate with comprehending it all...)
