Right now I just want to start with fairing speakers, amp, and dsp. Will next add lids or lowers (haven't decided if I want to put lowers on the bike or not). I am going to tackle the install/tuning.

I haven't seen anyone mention this combination so maybe I am a little whacked out, so if I am, put me in perspective.

Faital pro 6RS140 with diamond audio short throat horns or Beyma SQL60 in the fairing ($500-$650)
sound digital EVOX 800.4 amplifier bi amping the fairing speakers ($450ish)
Parts Express DSP 408 ($150ish)

Later I would add another amp and 8's or 6.5 components in the lids.

Are there better sounding tweeters that will still be efficient enough??

For the money I am spending would I just be better off with a coax speaker like the Beyma 6CX200ND??

I know the mmats/stinger combo is much cheaper, so will stage one of this upgrade sound appreciably better than that combo if tuned correctly?

As much as I like the RS140 and Beyma SQL combo, I'd opt for the Faital 6HX150. Integrated compression tweeter and no holes to cut in your grilles like the SQL.

The 6HX150 won't play as low as the 140's do, but they are one of the best sounding speakers out there in my opinion.

A 1200.4 or comparable to them to give them up to 300 watts is great. Run a 400.4 or comparable to the tweeters in stereo. The best part about the tweeter is it comes in around 1700 hz and is strong all the way up to 20k. This is in my opinion a much easier setup to install.

While not mandatory, a LEX Rivera Amp Rack would help out space in the fairing a lot instead of finding places to wedge stuff in. The RG fairing is not pleasant for space without a ton of creativity.

Couple this setup with a DD DSP over the dayton as well. I like the Dayton, but I've seen a few hiccups with them and just prefer the DD as it seems to be better built.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Andy

Andy, thanks for the feedback....

I am worried about the 6HX150 not giving me what i need in the midbass. Maybe I am splitting hairs and I definitely haven't listened to both. I may be happier with the 150s in the long run but happier with the RS140 in the short term without additional midbass/bass support from lowers or bag lids. I dunno... thats what the fun is in this stuff.

When you speak of the DD dsp are you talking the DD audio SC4? If so, where is a good place to pick one up online.
