Replacement for Rockford Fosgate speaker lid kit (Boss Audio)
Anyone have any experience with these? Saw this posted on Facebook, some posters said the quality is just as good as the RF lid kit but $200 cheaper ($299). Includes speakers- which are most likely crap but will probably be junked anyway- and also includes and metal grills w/templates for the lids. I have the RF lid kit and I like it fine but here is a cheaper alternative for those who don't want to pay $500. Poster on Facebook says it works fine for pre-2014 bags but I would verify with BOSS Audio before purchasing. I also see it posted on ebay. I don't have any other specifics besides what I saw posted on FB so call the manufacturer directly if you have any questions.
Cool. If the grills and other parts are of as good a quality as the RF kit might be a good alternative. I will say though, forum members get a discount from RF. I think I paid like 410 for my kit. Then was able to sell the speakers for 100 or so bucks.
I wouldn't expect much out of the speakers for sure, 175w rms for the pair, as said, if you plan on replacing the speakers, depending on the quality of the rest of the kit, may be worth a try.
Does the Boss sticker come off good??? i may ask my audio guy how much he can get them for. Speakers will get junked, but the grill and template is a better deal.
I am running a RF lid kit on my bike and the quality is good for the kit. If this kit is as good then it is a great deal. I have had several 6x9 speakers in mine along with some 6.5's and now running compression drivers in them.
I just did the Rockford Fosgate stage 3 kit on my '11 SG. Sounds great BTW. I got all the part numbers from the RF website and then made auction bids on Ebay for all the individual parts of the kit. The kit runs about $2331 after tax for me. I ended up spending $1202 and all the parts are new in unopened boxes. That beats guessing if some off-brand grills will fit your bag lids and speakers.
I won the auction for the rear speaker kit for $305 and free shipping.
Just sayin'.
