I'll just add to the convo that my 800.4S doesn't effect my FM at all for some reason. I have heard some complaints but I guess I'm lucky.
Thanks for that info. Where do you have your SD mounted, on top of the head unit? Also do you live in a city or a town?
I suspect with some of us the issue is we live so far from any radio stations that just a little bit of interference can cause us a major loss in reception.
In my case the Arc was also a winner in regards to the size and shape of the unit. I have a pre-Rushmore bike with stock head unit and CB module. I had already stuffed an Arc PSM in there with a few ground loop isolators and a couple of other power supplies for other equipment. When I switched to the Arc amp I gained back enough space to install both a bluetooth and an iPod interface.
Hey I just thought of something. Is the Focal FDP Sport kind to FM reception? I know it ain't cheap but that sucker has about the same footprint as the Arc and puts out 4x175 watts at four ohms. It also scales nicely with a two ohm load. That might be overkill for the rear speakers, but it would avoid having to bridge the existing amp and add another. I know folks bridge amps all the time, but I like to keep things as under stressed as possible when I can. Don't know if that makes sense or not.
My SD 1200.4 evox doesn't completely kill FM reception. But I also have my antenna under my seat and the tip broke on it, since apparently now they're no longer steel, but plastic. So not sure which is the cause of degraded FM reception. Again I can still get most stations though.

You live in the middle of Rock and Roll city though. How well did it pick up between Chatham and Lynchburg?
I remember the last time I was down there I picked up all kinds of stations. It was like I got a head unit upgrade.

I dont know about that. lol We have one good rock station for real rock and roll, but they talk 6 hours a day with NO music. Honestly, and I should have tried, but I didn't try FM when we rode a few weeks ago. Next time I'm up there I'll make it a point to try.
Thanks again men for all the replies/options. I like to keep things simple and prefer to stay with 4 speakers, 1 amp. I'll get some GZ's ordered and try my Stinger first. If it really under performs, I'll look for a replacement amp.
I asked about the Arc 600.4 as I saw one in the classified's here (thought it had more jam than my Stinger). In the mean time I'll keep my eyes open for a 1200.4. I have all winter so no hurry.

I've been well pleased with my Arc 600.4. On paper it definitely puts out at least 25 watts per channel more than the Stinger. I have seen some specs on the Stinger that rate it at 100 watts per channel instead of 125. The Arc is physically larger by over two inches, so I figure there is some extra copper in there somewhere.
I ain't saying the Arc is the best way to go, but I got mine used at a good deal and don't regret the purchase.

Correct Hoyt. Mine is one of the older/original Stingers that were rated at 100 x 4 @ 4 ohm. Current, newer ones are rated at 125 x 4 @ 4 ohm.
I suspect mine will be "light" so thought the Arc at 150 x 4 @ 4ohm would do a better job.
To the OP, I have the Stinger and the same speakers and it sounds good. Like I said in another thread I think it sounds better than the SD 800.4 with those speakers.
