Default Looking for best option for Saddlebag Speakers 2020 RGS

I have the Boom Stage 2 amp and Boom Stage 2 speakers in the faring. I want to add two speakers to the saddlebag lids.

I understand that I would need another Boom Stage 2 amp to go in the saddlebags. I really didn't want to give up space as I don't use a tour pack. I could go for the HD Rockford Fosgate Stage 2 amp in the faring and power all 4 speakers (provided that the Boom front speakers are compatible), or put all RF stage 2 speakers front and back and sell the Boom amp and speakers. Any suggestions?

Also, is the HD Rockford Fosgate amp and speakers that same as the Non HD version?

Thanks in advance.

If you plan on keeping the boom amp/speakers in the fairing then your only option is to add a boom amp and 5x7's in your lids. The boom setup is proprietary and it cant be mixed with aftermarket components. I would highly consider taking all the boom stuff out and starting from scratch with all aftermarket equipment. If you are determined to keep the boom then you can find plenty of used amp and speakers for sale as most people who want more found out the boom just doesnt cut it for guys who want better audio on their scooters.

Thanks for your reply.

I think going all Rockford Fosgate is the way to go. Do you know offhand if the Harley version is any different than the offerings from Rockford Fosgate themself?

Although the RF setup is better than the stock boom, you can do much better for the money. The RF speakers are just one step above the boom. The RF rear lid kit is a good install for the rear 6x9 lid and the speakers are ok but will leave you wanting more. Look into the boss rear lid kit as it is identical to the RF lid kit as far as install goes and is around $200 cheaper. A set of mmats coax or the new gz yellow basket coax is about as good as it gets for your fairing and the new hertz sx 690 neos are just that good for the lids and are water resistant. You can power it all with a stinger 4 channel amp and still retain fm radio.

Thank you. I assume all of this is compatible with the Boom Infotainment?

So 6x9”s will fit in the precut saddlebag lids?

Do you have the boom lid 5x7 speakers now? If so then you will need to cut them out and use an adaptor for them to fit a 6x9. AHB has that adaptor and is solid quality. For some reason I thought you just had boom in the fairing.

I have zoom speakers in the faring. I have no speakers in the lids as of yet. I was ordering the speaker lids, but from what I keep reading it looks like it’s a waste to do that as it’s difficult to hear them. What do you think?

Maybe just upgrade the amp and the faring speakers?

2020 RG has the mustache engine guards so no lowers can be fitted. If adding lids, look into the boss rear lid kit that you cut out your lids to fit them. This kit is identical to the RF lid kit (what I have) and is around $200 cheaper. Although the speakers are just soso in the kit, the fit and finish of the kit is good quality and other speakers will fit it.

I think I might just focus on a better amp and fairing speakers that are non-Harley, and pass on the lid speakers. Many people I’m reading say that you could really only hear them when you’re stopped or very low speeds.

If you half *** it then yeah I can see those claims being viable. If you go with good speakers and power them properly, you'll have no problems hearing your lids at highway speeds.
