Sena or othe?
Hi guys, I have a 2000 Heritage Springer and I am considering some type of communications device, like a Sena. The problem is, I ride alone and have no need for an intercom system for a passenger. I would only use it to listen to music with the device paired to my cell phone on Bluetooth and to make and receive phone calls, and for gps. I used to ride a Goldwing and really liked the CB to listen to others on the road. I don't think any Sena device can operate like a CB, or can it? What device to you lone riders use?

Think about it this way, on your Wing, you could talk to other folks - but, they had to have a CB. You could not use the CB to listen to music or the GPS (the other options in the bike did this for you.
With the current version of a variety of wireless headsets like the Sena, Cardo and others, you can now listen to music, hear the GPS, take calls and yes, talk to others that have wireless headsets. Just as an FYI, today, several different wireless will talk to each other - so, if you have a Sena and someone else has a Cardo, it is very possible that the two different units can pair.
Just for kicks, I recently purchased a Cardo PackTalk Bold. I paired that with my phone and, while not needed for me, you can also pair it with your GPS. Plus, you can listed to music and the radio.
Good luck in whichever you chose. I posted both my 1/2 and 3/4 helmets to share what it might loo like

What about when you pass someone on the road, and they have some kind of communication device but obviously there is no pairing that can be done, can you listen to, and talk to the other riders, such as to ask for road conditions?
Just like my earlier example, if you have a CB and you pass someone on the road, you can't talk to them unless they have a CB plus, you pair with them (same channel)
Did you purchase the Cardo unit through Cardo or Amazon? Seems Cardo prices are higher than Ebay or Amazon. A riding partner and I were looking to purchase and the duo package is the best price, but unknown if that is 2 complete sets or just designed for driver/passenger. Appreciate the pics of the setups as we use half helmets. How do you find the Cardo on the half helmet? can you hear calls? Have you tried it bike to bike. Thanks
We just bought Sena 50S units. They have three different communication protocols - bluetooth intercom between 2-4 units; Group Mesh between up to 24 different units; and Open Mesh which is similar to CB and is nearly limitless up to 5 miles.
So far we are happy with the communication capabilities.
