Here are the installation instructions for those new RF Boom! fairing speakers.
BlackPear#1, you should check with the Dealer to see if It's possible to get the new RF grills and grill retainers separately from the kit (see Table 2 in the linked instructions for P/Ns). The only thing is you might need to grind off the little alignment pin on the speaker pod (see Figure 3) if your speaker doesn't have the hole for it.
The grilles & retainers are available separately. Go to the last page on the installation instructions (link in hamah's post).

So what is your opinion on the Rockford fosgate speakers? Did you add an Amp of just change the batwing speakers? Thanks
the clarity is like night and day compared to the OEM speakers! VERY impressed.
But remember I have the Sony, not the Boom, and so a few differences:
a built-in 4x100 amp
on screen equalizer
2ohm vs 4ohm
larger cones with tweeters
Amplification is greatly improved vs OEM speakers: obviously when standing still, but I can now hear it at highway speeds.
Could it be even louder? yes (highway use: for when I'm in full face lock down as I tend to ride open face - Shark Evo One-2).
Sony + FS vs Sony + OEM: its a great improvement and would recommend.
Unlike many of the knowledgeable audiophiles on here I'm not trying to build a mobile Sound System, just trying to get better enjoyment out of having a stereo while on the move. Google maps and audio that doesn't irritate me anymore: Think I've achieved that for now!
YMMV
ps: when removing the pods: I got the back, difficult bolt, out easy with an open ended spanner. Had more trouble with the upper front 'easy?!' bolt!
