Default Boom Amp Flash?

I'm helping a friend with a 2020 Road Glide Special. When he bought this bike in January, the dealer moved his HD Boom amp and fairing speakers from his old bike the the new bike. Last week the left speaker quit working (the magnet actually fell out of it). Rather than replace it with the HD Boom speakers, we got a pair of Diamond Audio 6.5's. They worked fine, with plenty of volume - but we then discovered the Boom tweeters were blown too. Back to the audio store and got a pair of Diamond Audio horns. While there, we were asked if the radio had been flashed for the amp - we had no idea. He explained the wonky HD EQ curve, and if it wasn't flashed that could have been the cause of the blown speakers. Not wanting to blow these speakers, we had him go ahead and flash it - then we had zero audio, none at all. This flash is commonly known as the "Rockford Flash" done with TecnoResearch software. Then we learned that this is not supposed to be done with the Boom amp, and had him perform a "restore" function. Now everything works again, but we have a max volume not much louder than a whisper.

With all of that said, here's the question --- does the HD Boom amp require an HD flash to get it working again? Did the Rockford Flash wipe it out?

The HD dealer wants him to drop it off so they can figure it out, but we'd like to be a little smarter bout this first rather than pay a crap ton of money to diagnose.

I know that a better amp is the right thing to do here, but its just not in his budget.

If anyone here can shed some light on this for us, we'd be forever grateful.

I found the answer, and that is yes it does need a flash from HD. Got it done this morning, and all is well again.

Glad you guys got this going. Did you figure out why the first one didn't work?

Did you get it done at the HD dealer this time?

My guess is that the Boom stuff is proprietary HD stuff, and yes it requires HD to activate it.

Harley-Davidson can no longer do flash for aftermarket audio.
This information is on the Rockford website.
Harley dealers can only do the Boom audio stuff. This is how I understand it spent the last few days in a deep dive learning about Harley audio. I'm putting couple amps and on my bike.
