I think you can buy the techno research tool yourself lol. Just a thought.
But yes, Mine was done at a local dealer last year.
I've considered it. American Hard Bag has the TR Alaris flash tool for $300 USD. It's a "single bike" unit similar to a tuner like a PowerVision. You can flash as many times as you'd like...but just your bike. I've contacted them and the only other issue (for me) is it's only Windows based software. And seeing as I'm all Mac, that would mean buying a Windows laptop as well...so the cost really gets up there...for me. But if you're PC/Windows, it's probably well worth it. https://www.americanhardbag.com/coll...-ultra-classic

Appreciate it mcdc! Wish you were close, I'd take you up on it...other than the border still being closed

You could install a virtual machine on your Mac that runs windows. Lol
Hey Tony if he's running Parallels on his Mac will that allow the USB connectivity for flashing tools? If so then an idea just popped up that might help. The only thing is by the time he buys Parallels and a Windows 10 license he is 2/3 of the cost of a basic Windows laptop that would run any diagnostic software he would need. Personally I like having a PC just dedicated to working on my hobbies and another computer for my other household use.
Hey John, you remember the deal with having to flush the brake fluid to keep the anti lock hydraulic control unit from corroding and seizing up over time? I bought a basic flash tool just to flush the brakes on my bike so I do it every year now. Remember you have to fire the ABS solenoids to clear out all the old brake fluid in there. If you bleed the brakes without doing that the old fluid stays in the HCU.
Now that you have a Rushmore bike with a fancy head unit would it make sense to buy a GOOD flash tool that would not only flash the audio bin files but allow you to service your bike's brakes yourself?
In the US I think the brake flush alone runs about $150 or so. If you gain the ability to flash your audio settings as you see fit it might be worth the investment in the diagnostic tool.
I believe it would work. I was more or less kidding around though.
But I will say I always have or can get a copy of windows installs. lol
I havent installed a virtual machine in quite a few years, but last time I did it was on a windows pc not a mac. I needed to run an older version of windows.
I know my co worker has had to run a VM on his mac, so I would assume ports and stuff work the same way.

Just a thunk.
Thanks Bryan...I may consider it. A simple $50 flash that the indy can't do till July has me going down the rabbit hole of spending hundreds, possibly a thousand or more, on tools & computers. Where does it end?

I tried this route a couple of years ago when using my PowerVision tuner with "not so great" results. It was "glitchy" and I didn't feel comfortable using that method when making tuning changes.
Same thing now. If I'm gonna be messing with new settings/flash, I want to make sure it's right. I may just have to pony up and buy an inexpensive PC laptop to be used primarily for this stuff.
Well have sometime to mess around in the shop, so I decided to go back and start at the head unit and look for distortion at the two different tones , 1khz -5 and 60hz -5, since SD instructs you to. I left the amp gains as they were at 34.6 volts. I did find the 1khz clipped the HU at 3 clicks below full as was set earlier, the 60hz clipped at 4 under full volume. Voltage on the 1kz dropped of course to 28 volts and the 60hz checked in at 34 volts off the amp......still not sure why SD only instructs 60 tone and not a 1khz or using both?
Also used a 100hz on Bluetooth, it clipped the HU just under half way with the phone volume all the way up.......that is what I was seeing play music from it.
