Juice what would happen if you moved the resistor to the other side of the junction (toward the amp)? Wouldn't the amp see 4 ohms? The way it's drawn wouldn't the amp see 2 ohms? Trying to expand my knowledge not question an authority.
That resistor is only there for the tweeter ( it give the TWEETER more resistance and makes it less loud)!
You do not want that in front of the woofer, you would increase the resistance of the woofer and tweeter. The speaker would not play as loud and it would cut the watts in half as it would increase the resistance.
It is mainly there to tame the tweeter/horn from over powering the woofer and becoming tinny and screechy. The amp don't care to much in the higher frequency range where the tweeter and woofer play together. Most speaker increase resistance in the higher range. that is why we band pass speaker so they wont play far left and right frequencies.
The main problem is that amp is only putting out 80 watts to those speakers unless he has them bridged and running the horn in parallel. Those speakers also come with a 4 ohm load resistor to help tame the highs, did the shop wire it in? I have them in my fairing sending 300 watts to each woofer! A dsp will help with those speakers.

Juice what amps are you running them on and how do you have them wired???
I just ordered some MP525 to replace some MM1 s I fried. Looks like I gave them too much power. I am going to layout what I have and my next approach. Hopefully somebody that knows better can verify what I am doing. I have some experience and some tools. At 400 bucks I wouldn't mind some verification on how not to burn these MP525s. I will be paying closer attention to how much voltage I am sending these speakers and working on the Math to find out exactly how much to set. Last week I just used the Oscilloscope!
Pioneer MVH-512BS Used 1 khz test tone with Head unit flat except EQ set and loudness on. I did based on audio pro advice- set as you want to run then set it with a clean signal on the oscilloscope. Didnt work out so I am going to pay more attention to the voltage this time.
Bike config is currently ALL Pass 6x9 Polk MM1 Rear bags and 5.25 MM1 Front with the front getting replaced next weekend I hope.
I will add more details as I have them. Thanks for any help ya got.
