As for now just the yellow baskets in the fairing. Maybe ,someday 6x9 in the lids or maybe lowers. If that day happens ,I’ll worry about another amp then. The 800.4 maybe over kill for just 2 speaker set up. I couldn’t pass on the SD for the price. It’s possible that I’ll be happy with just the yellow baskets up front.
I might get my b$*ls busted for saying this, but I’m gonna say it anyways. I sold the mmats and while I wait for the new amp and speakers to get here, I put the kappas that I was using before the mmats, back in the pods .
Let the b*ll busting begin.
To me they sound better than the mmats. No where close to being as loud as the mmats, but sounded more fuller. Even after playing with the gains, adding some fiber fill in the pads I couldn’t get the sound I am looking for out of the mmats

So for now just the two yellows upfront
I like the Mmats I have in the fairing at the moment, but I also have an 05 Ultra with no pods. Not sure how well fiber fill works with pods.
Having used the Kappas in the past, I gotta agree I did like the tone and fullness of them. Just needed more volume.
I took advantage of the Direct Cycle deals as well.

to each his own, but I have to disagree. I had the kappas and replaced them with the mmats. Worlds better. The kappas lack any warmth and are tinny. Mmats have a much broader freq range, decent warmth and get very loud.

No ball busting and not surprised. You are noticing the difference between a car audio coax and a pro audio coax sound. Regular coax are a lot warmer and fuller. Pro audio are not warm but you get the volume needed for highways speeds.
So manage your expectations of the GZs. They are going to be more like the MMats than kappas.

I actually like the Kappas better than the Mmats coax as well. They're not always great out of the box depending on the setup but with a little effort they've always had a good full range to my ears. And they will take more power than most are willing to give them.

I had mine powered fairly conservatively with the ss 520 amp and one speaker blew not quite a year in, so replaced under warranty. Never installed the new ones. Bought the mmats and stinger combo and went that way. I'm sure if I knew what I was doing and could have tuned them better and with a dsp, they would have sounded great. They hurt my ears when the volume was up.

Yep, I had my Kappas rocking pretty good connected to the SS PN 4.1000d. no DSP, but I did have a built in EQ on the Sony. 05 Ultra, so no pods. Definitely fuller sounding, with plenty of thump, not too bad on volume, but the Stinger, Mmats did help with volume. Wish I would have tried the Mmats on the SS amp before swapping it out. But I will say the Stinger comes across warmer sounding then the TX48 I upgraded to latter on.
Has anyone tried the Stinger bridged to the GZ coax yet?

I ran both the Matts an the Kappas and thought the Kappas were better for my ears on a Sony 7000 HU
