Posted in the General section but maybe get more feedback here. Just wondering if theres a way to tighten up the volume switch on my handle bar control? Or if it can be removed and replaced? Works fine but its wiggly like a childs loose baby tooth. Worried its just gonna eventually fall off. Dont want to open up the handlebar control if there isnt a fix for it. any thoughts? 2010 ultra
Just got rid of an 09 Ultra and I was having the same problem. The button flew off on the highway when I was adjusting the volume and all that was left was a little metal stud. The cruise control was loose at one point and I had it replaced under the extended service plan. The can be replaced but I don't think they can be tightened.
Thanks, yeah did a bit more research and found instructions for the replacement of the switch caps. Shows using a specific tapered fork like tool to get between housing and cap and separate the two. Not sure how cap is fixed to stem and tried pushing it in to better seat it but made no difference. It still functions fine so gonna leave for now and may replace with chrome.
thanks for the input

Those caps are basically a tight slip fit over the stem. The new caps sometimes need a little reaming out to get them to fit the stem and if you push inward on that stem very hard the switch will break. Get your replacement cap, ream it out just enough that it takes a bit of pressure to slide it on the stem and add a dab of blue loctite inside the hole before you seat it on the stem.
