2021 Road Glide, stock BOOM audio Out riding in the heavy rain and:
1) Rain pools up at bottom lip of screen
2) Randomly rain drops hitting just the right spot on screen (i'm guessing)
,,,so, every so often, either the screen acts as if a random press on screen to change Nav screen/music/Car Play/screen display, etc... or when I notice it, pooled water sloshing across bottom of screen acting like a finger dragging across the screen causing me grief.. Rather annoying when you're using Navigation in rain, and suddenly screen changes to Music. Or freaks out by changing every three seconds.
I've been wondering about maybe drilling small holes along bottom of trim. Not sure where this water would drain to, and could cause more grief than it solves..
Anyone have this issue? Am I "special"? I'm do see similar for aftermarket HU's, But I've not seen posts about factory units in the rain suffering.
Then water pool on lips/edges. Thats the nature of water. lol Either way....inside or outside the screen protector, if its causing the radio to go out intermittently, its warrantied.

Correct. The water sits at the base of the screen/trim lip (a natural shelf as it is). Unlike my former 2016 RG, I don't think there is a screen protector on the 2021.
When the rain collects high enough, I think it triggers the function that it is closes to (IE: causes Car Play to change to music screen; Navigation screen to jump to settings; etc....). Like a kid poking the screen at random times, it's annoying. BOOM screen is doing it's job, just something that I never noticed until a recent trip in heavy rain.
And/or, it could be rain hitting the screen at the right place to emulate a poke. I kinda think not. I'm more inclined to think its pooling water on trim & screen.
Either way, I don't believe it's a defective head unit. Just an observation that is distracting, at a distracting time (riding in rain).

ASAIK, there should be a screen protector on it. I have a 2020 and have never had an issue with the radio and water. I wouldn't be happy at all with your issues. These units are designed and warrantied to work in the elements a bike is ridden in. Nice clear days are easy. Cold rainy ones aren't, but they're designed to function in each equally.
Upon closer inspection, there are two lips for water to collect upon.
First is the Head Unit screen and trim. Without disassembly, not sure of that is decorative trim or some form of retention for screen.
Second is inner fairing to trim. Photo's don't show this well, so not wasting space here with bad pics. This forms a slightly deeper lip (to the screen), but has some contour. So it's not a funnel up to the HU. I would like to think a couple 1/8" holes would allow rain to drain harmlessly to...???
I guess I'll have to look close with a sprayer to decipher exactly which/what/where the water pooling is most significant. I would suspect its the screen & trim of HU, Since the very, VERY slight space between HU and inner fairing looks pretty tight but able to allow some seepage past it. I can see where the more upright Street Glide may not allow as much water to collect since the RG is angled slightly out at the bottom.
Never noticed this with 16 RG, but then I don't recall being in heavy rain on that bike.
Have the same issue on my 17 RG and now my current 19 RG. I just live with it, it only happens on very bad rain situations for me. I wouldn't drill any holes into the lip, you start introducing water into the fairing, you are going to have far greater problems.
