I am getting some Ground Zero Yellow baskets and a SD 400.4 put into a 2019 Street Glide. For a two speaker set-up, with no plans to go to more, is a DSP with the money? I am not looking for the best system on the road, just one that sounds good at highway speeds. A local installer quoted my $1k for the speaker and amp install with flash. Another $475 for HKI mini DSP with tuning. I think the prices are reasonable, is the DSP worth it?

if youre planning on never adding more speakers to the bike you wouldnt need a dsp with just two coaxial speakers. You will need to set the hi pass filter in your amp. around 80-100 hz depending on how much power theyre getting from the amp.

I do not agree with this. I have the GZ's coax's and Mmat 6x9's with only the GT H/U and rockford flash can make my ears bleed. So a $150.00 dayton dsp is money well spent.
I will chime in on this also. I have found that when running a SD amp of any kind, you need a dsp. If not, like fireball stated it can make your ears bleed. That is just the nature of a SD amp. Now if you were running a stinger or mmats 4110 then I would tell you it isn't as necessary but will make your setup sound better. That dayton is a good user friendly dsp also.
I have read a lot on here and think (not certain) that the GZ yellow baskets and SD amp is a good choice. The DSP is $475 installed and tuned by a reputable local dealer. Im not comfortable doing the tuning at all. Is there a better amp for the speakers I should consider. I came from a Polk Mm651 and PBR 300x2 setup in a 2012 SG that I was really happy with. Id drop the money on the DSP if its worth it as there is an outside chance Ill get crash bar speakers at some point. I travel too much and will never put shaker bags in as I need the luggage room. I was told Id need a bigger or second amp if I do add the crash bar speakers (I dont have lower fairings so finding pods has been a challenge). The input is really appreciated, I dont know anything about ohms/high-low inputs/etc. I never listen to rap (aside from Beastie Boys) and stick to classic rock and 90s grunge, if that helps in choice of speakers.

The GZ yellow baskets and SD amp is a great choice but if it were me I would opt for the SD 800.4 EvoX instead of the 400.4................I actually just did an install for a customer with a set of yellow baskets and the SD 800.4 EvoX and it sounds great!! No DSP

Get the dayton dsp like others have said. If your installer can install the HKI, he can install and tune the dayton. If he cant tune it, daniel hearn on FB can remote tune it for 100 bucks I believe.
And yes, for about the same money, you can do the stinger spx700 and bridge those speakers. No dsp needed.
I disagree, I originally put in 2 Ground Zero Yellow Basket Coaxials with a Soundigital 800.4 EVOPS and no dsp in my 2018 Street Glide with a GTS radio. The radio was flashed to 2 amp/ 8 speaker flash. Sounded ok, but I decided to put in a dsp (Arc Audio PSM). The system came alive, must better sound. It my opinion it was worth every penny. You can run it without a DSP, but I never will.

All the install done by me. Parts from Chris Lowe (Garage Bagger Audio ), Carlos Ramirez ( NVS Audio) ,Installions Unlimted, and advice and tuning from Henry Torres Jr (Da Funk Shop).
Are you bridging the 800.4 amp or running off two channels? The installer did say another option was red basket GZ with a 800.4 and a DSP. I havent heard much about the red basket GZ.

Disregard the red basket stuff, I mixed up what he was saying. He was talking possible red baskets in a multi-speaker setup.
Question remains on the 800.4 and DSP. Wouldnt the 800 bridged overpower the GZs?
Thanks for all the input, looking to get it done right the first time.
