Before the latest update I did find that the dimmest night setting was still bright and distracting. Once I did the up date and put the night mode to -15 is way better than before. I ride a lot at night heading to work.
so, had my first hiccup with the Soundstream today, and it's still a mystery as to what caused it, or what it was. I took a short trip today, and I needed navigation as it was in a small city that I am not familiar with, lol it is a less than desirable one...like most these days, but anyways, I was riding along, google maps was guiding me through the city, then suddenly, the unit went black! nothing! like it was powered off, then 45 seconds to 1 minute later, it fired back up, I did have to open google maps again and pick home as my destination, but other than that, it was normal...

not my first, but I had an interesting glitch at the weekend...
Personally think it was Android Auto on the phone having a moment. Had been following the arrow, turns flashing up top of screen in green, as they do.
Had been out hours in the hot sun (phones in the bag at the back in a Bass Pro H2Odyssey floating pouch which prob doesn't help with heat).
When I realised I should have made a turn 8 miles back and I noticed that the green info wasn't flashing up anymore and the arrow had stuck on route!
I couldn't get that barsteward to restart from the HU! tried all sorts of things.
So pulled over, off and on the phone (cause that's worked since the invention of the computer) and calm was restored to matrix
....now don't even get me started on the 5 Pan-Euro riders who suddenly appeared in my lane, having cut the corner over the brow of a blind hill and rode straight at me as I was approaching it from my side!
hey guys, if you are getting noise from your RCA jacks, its not your radio. Your radio uses differential outputs for your RCA, and your amp is probably common ground inputs which creates a ground loop short which is what you are hearing.
use speaker lvl input connections if your amp doesnt have differential inputs.
Is the HDHU.14+ adequate without using an amp? I was hoping to install that alone with just better speakers.
Not looking for crazy loud, just better than the stock GT unit in my 2018 RGS.
that's all I've done to-date and i'm happy with the result.
I've got Rockford Fosgate T1650 speakers (4ohm / 75W RMS/ 150W Max)
sure you can always go louder (and I will amp eventually) but they are a VAST improvement over the OEM 2ohms that were originally in my bike with the 6.5
I have the same question. Does the HDHU.14+ play any louder than the stock Head units. The watt rating from the manufacturer is about the same, but who knows how accurate they are. If it isn't I may go for the Sony it has a confirmed 45 watts. I tested the radio in my 13 RG and it only put out about 7 watts. I am shopping because my 17 RG special radio died on the way to Sturgis last week.

having come from the Sony, and before that the 6.5, IMHO YES
I would also add that my HDHU14 appears to be louder than my Sony was
Okay that is very interesting. Are you talking about the sony xav-a7000? because the sony xav-a7000 puts out 45 watts per channel (confirmed by private individual on youtube) and the HDHU 14+ is advertised at 25.

can only tell you what I think (and I'm sure my riding buddies would attest to) but my HDHU and my 4 Ohm RF speakers certainly sound clearer and louder than the Sony did.
and compared to the 6.5 inFRUSTRATION system... well let's not even get into that disaster!
I liked my Sony, but it didn't play well with the Great British weather
...specs from both my manuals FYI
