Default AMP Ground Wire

Curious as to where are you all mounting your ground wires? is there a place in the batwing faring or are you just running them back to negative side of the battery?

Might be able to use the power cable if its long enough to cut in half. Just make sure you mark them or shrink wrap the ends black.

If you haven't installed that kit yet, send it back and get the right one.

Yeah, its going back today. Its the Boss kit2....they send you 10 ft of power (red) wire but just 2 ft of ground. You get what you pay for!

Doing it "the right way" is not to run the ground to the battery. Ensure you have a good solid frame ground for the amp and that both the amp ground run, as well as the battery-ground strap, are capable of carrying the required load. Connecting the amp ground directly to the battery is not only a bad practice but potentially dangerous. I don't want to **** anyone off here (seems almost like a religious or political argument) so you do what you want but I'm speaking from decades of experience as a DC power plant engineer. It's not a good idea. Rather than repeat myself, you can find multiple threads here where I explain why this isn't a good idea but again, suit yourself.

It's not hard to find comments and articles out there that will argue both sides so you will need to decide for yourself. Articles like this one agree with my position. You will also hear people tell you how automotive electrical and bike electrical are very different so the justification for not running the amp ground directly to the battery does not appy. At the root, they are not very different at all.

Lol. I knew you wouldnt but its done time and time again in many custom audio installations. If you see the cables, people like to have all matching colors, just label them. In a bike you wont see any of the cables. Not about right or wrong if thats what he has to use but hes returning them. 10ft probably isnt long enough anyway and for a beginner you’re probably right. Easy to mistake them

As for the ground, I would upgrade the cable to the frame and connect the amp to that ground and it leaves less things bolted to your battery. Its kind of a PITA but its a better ground if your connecting multiple things
