I know this is an old thread, but I just had an issue with this radio. I was riding home, sunny day, 70 or so, and suddenly my check engine light and the FOB light came on. I pulled over, shut the bike off, tried to turn it back on-nothing. Lights came on, but no radio, no fuel pump, nothing. Pulled fuses, checked OK. Checked battery terminals, secure. Had it towed to my local dealership. They figure it out-the thumb control module, LPHDiNT, went bad, and prevented the bike from starting, I was told. They disconnected the entire radio to bypass it, got it working.
Right now, I still have the red FOB light on, havent trouble shot that yet. I ordered another module, but now am hesistant to install it. I honestly dont know what version I am on, and, as the radio currently isnt working, there is no way to know what version.
As this point, I am seriously considering pulling the radio, and just going back to having no radio at all (I have the FLHT which didnt come with a system). I only use it for nav anyway, dont listen to the radio.

Anyone else experience this with their head unit, where it simply refused to start?

Did you change the key fob battery? And if they changed the thumb control module then why would they feel the need to disconnect the radio entirely? If you were only going to use the navigation then why not just use your phone for that?

Key fob battery was changed. They didnt change the part-they removed it and bypassed the radio altogether. I ordered the module, and will install it when I get it (not difficult). As to why not just use my phone-because a screen, directly in my line of sight, is far easier to use than a phone on a handlebar. And, the radio is 100% waterproof. I have gone through 3 phones due to rain. Two of them, IP68 rated. Which I have my doubts about....lol

i have the quad locksystem to mount my phone, you can order a rain cover for the phone and still use the phone, it works. That's Harley for you, they don't like to work on a product that isn't theirs. I hope you get this resolved.

Thanks.
I have resolved to simply ripping out the radio and putting the glove box thing back in there (Its an Electra Glide Standard), and going that route again. I use a quad lock as well. Had to upgrade my phone this week too, so needed a new case, ordered the poncho thing with it, just in case

It works coming from someone in Southern Arizona where we have monsoon season and you can see rain coming from miles away. Not a lot of back roads here and not much chance of getting away from it. Bummer about not being able to use the radio. Love mine, it has so many options of different screens.

just if no one has figured this out. The issue is that if you have a tuner like a power commander plugged in it sees that first for data and will
nor send data to the gauges for the radio. If you unplug the power commander then it will see it first. Same thing you have to do.
that’s if you have the screen that stays plugged in like mine does.
