Good timing on this thread. I just installed the Cerwin Vega 14+ Harley Davidson Cut In Lid Kit with SM694 speakers this morning. Diamond Audio told me, when I called them, that this is the same speaker (and kit) as their HXM69F4, but with a different magnet. My initial reaction was that these speakers played quite efficiently and put out a lot of bass. The highs were quite smooth. I am running 140 watts to each, which is modest. I would compare them is size and depth to the MMATS 6x9.
That's my biggest take from them as you stated...the highs are smooth. The GZ definitely make eyes squint...the Vega didn't manage to do that.
Tried the Vega 465C tonight...and I am impressed. They are definitely the warmest (being car audio) but the 94db and crossover +2 really gets them loud. These are definitely the ones going in my fairing. Only thing now is how to get the tweeters flush with the VOLT and AIR holes.
