NEW ROKKER 1000XXR amp vs Hertz 900
I have our ROKKER series amplifiers built in China to my specifications, and I personally work closely with the manufacturer there on all aspects of the amplifiers we have built, specifically for motorcycles.
Let's first examine the specifications of the new Hertz 900 that is being promoted pretty hard by the gentleman at Volunteer audio.
If you go to the Hertz website and review the actual specs of that amplifier, it shows a Consumer Electronics Association (CEA 2006) rating of 150w RMS per channel into 4 ohms @ 2% total harmonic distortion.
That means that with a 2-ohm load, the best you could hope to see would be 185w per channelx4 into a 2-ohm speaker load, 740w RMS total.
Now those are good numbers, but nowhere near the 250w RMS per channel into 2-ohms that they are listing.
The new ROKKER 1000, uses a similar chipset as the Hertz, but relies upon a higher voltage power supply to raise the RMS output per channel to a higher level, thus drawing more current at 14.4v than the Hertz 900 amplifier.
I just wanted to set the record straight on the new ROKKER 1000, a good example of which is shown here ,,, https://jmcorp.com/JMC-ROK.KER-1000XXR-Stage6-4-Ch-Amp-Kit-for-2014-2023-Harley-StreetGlide_p_1559.html

i'm beginning to think your industry is filled with skeezy 'snake oil salesman'
the fella at Volunteer Audio called out Rockford Fosgate for what amounts to advertising 'puffery', he claimed their amps don't do what they say they will do...and here you are doing the same thing to Hertz
how are guys able to get away with that? how can a company like Hertz make a claim about a feature of their product and it be patently false? how is that not illegal?
so as a consumer, who's simply looking to buy a product that will do what I need it to do, who am I to believe?
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
excellent question, and I will give you an accurate answer ,,,,,
I only called out Volunteer audio because of his "overly" exaggerated you-tube video, explaining HOW his new fandangled amp testing machine, found that the new Hertz amplifier puts out 1000w RMS into 2-ohms (250w RMS x 4).
Hopefully everyone knows that is real BS, but the gentleman from Volunteer Audio sounds believable, even if most of us know better ,,,
What are the facts here? ,,,, if you go to the car audio section of the HERTZ website and look at that same amp for the automotive market, the actual CEA certified rating of that Hertz amp is 120w RMS x 4, into a 4-ohm load, AT .2% Total Harmonic Distortion. which comes out to about 180w RMS I think into a 2-ohm load. (which is a respectable CEA rating)
The Consumer Electronics Association Certified (CEA) rating is supposed to keep everyone honest, as by simply raising the distortion level OR raising the voltage above 14.4vcd, allows companies to post a HIGHER RMS output numbers than is allowed with the true CEA rating.
Now this car/motorcycle amplifier exaggeration race has been going on for decades, and JMC ROKKER has had to play the same game as everyone else ,,,,,
The new ROKKER 1000XXR amp is rated at 720W RMS into 4-ohms at 1% THD and 920w RMS into 2-ohms at 2% THD.
Even though we use the same chipsets that Hertz is using in their high-powered amp, we use a higher voltage coming off the internal power supply, to increase the RMS power ,,,,
NOW ,, having said all that, have we exaggerated just a bit over the actual CEA power rating? ,,, YES, we have to in order to sell amplifiers alongside the companies who exaggerate so much it is almost laughable.
Just be assured that the new ROKKER 1000XXR amplifier, "IS" a MUCH more powerful amplifier for your Harley, than the amp that Volunteer audio is selling, with them claiming 1000w RMS (250w RMS x 4) power.
It is also more powerful than the previous ROKKER 800w RMS amp and will produce higher volume levels on the highway ,,
It is completely adjustable in the field, by the installer, without the need for a computer, and all JMC ROKKER stage6 amp kits are now tuned for the STOCK Harley radio flash.
The new ROKKER 1000XXR can be adjusted into high-pass mode, or low pass mode (for subwoofers) on either the front or rear channels, and has the ability to drive, 4, 6 or 8, total speakers on your Harley with ease, WITHOUT over-taxing the charging system on the bike.
