Resurrecting a somewhat older post, but have a similar question.. was going to pm OP, but figure I will ask more publically.. I purchased a RK w/ a Quadzilla.. want to replace the eclipse head unit and possibly speakers.. I am not looking for an amp at this time (most likely not in future either)... Any thoughts on a head unit that would be good for the Quadzilla (would like USB or aux input.. neither of which are on the eclipse).. also.. speakers seem a bit dull but as many know.. not alot of options for 5" speakers.. thoughts?
Thx in advance..
Wayne
I would look at the sony DSX-M60. Down side is it doesn't play CD's. Upside is that it is a marine rated unit. Has a remote, and can be used in tandem with biketronics retro radio and similar kits to keep handlebar controls. As for aux, and usb input, it has both. Aux input on the front, and an interior trey for putting your usb connection, like an iPod, usb, or iphone and it charges while you ride.
I did an upgrade this past weekend, and added this head unit, and I am certain I will be happy with it. Switching out the head unit was really quite easy, and from what I understand from guys using the quadzilla, centerline, memphis shades units, it is even simpler for them.
The sony unit can be had from amazon for less than 150 bucks, and I think your local best buy will even price match if you ask. Best buy sells them for like 200 around here.
