So just to be clear, would using the velcro be sufficient to stabilize the amp? Would this work well on the stock HU as well as a Sony HU? If so it would be a little easier install.

Personally, I have a hard time believing that velcro is going to hold this 5 lb piece of metal once it starts vibrating, but I've been wrong before - often!
hook and loop velcro won't let go, i assure you. however with the sony head unit, it' quite a bit thinner than the stock headunit is (top to bottom) so the amp is not going to sit flush on top of it. Mounting to the vertical fairing brackets is a simple process and much more secure.
Ultra, I want to update an arc audio system on my 09 Street glide. I am looking for 125w @4 ohm. What would you recommend. I would like to stay away from RF maybe a sound stream amp. Thanks for you input.

That's what I ended up doing - using your system. Very easy and very secure. I will admit I'm wondering how those fairing brackets are going to hold up over time with the additional weight since both cracked on my old bike without anything attached to them. Then again, I worry about a lot of things...

there was a defect in the older brackets that they corrected in late 08 or 09 I believe it was.
ok no problem. then I would go the route of the SS Pn4.520D and install it in bridged mode. That puts all 520w (260/channel) at your fingertips to use if needed. You control your own volume so as not to overdrive the speakers. This also provides an upgrade path for your speakers if you choose to add lowers, rears etc.
