I think it has to do with the gentleman (can't remember his name) that helped bring the Medallion unit over to Dragonfly but I could be way off base.......I had a conversation with him a couple years ago and he said he designed the unit. I only called him once as I asked him at the time if his unit was able to be flashed. One of my issues with the unit was that it would not let you directly tune to an FM station. You could only "try" and hopefully get a station by hoping it would stop on that particular number when scanning. I did like the fact that it came with an MP3 file management system built right into the unit. I was able to download all of my songs to a USB flash drive, hide it in my crash bar bag and away I went. That is what I listened to 99% of the time. I never had issues with the unit itself and I liked how large the buttons on the unit were. Easier to navigate while riding as it was bad enough being on a RKC that I did not have any type of hand controls. Maybe someone from Dragonfly will chime in. I thought the unit performed pretty good.
I have the Dragonfly fairing with the Medallion system. I've had the system for about a year and a half. Great system, only problem i have 3/4 of the display is out, and I'm having a hard time getting it replaced from Medallion, no one will answer the phone. I've contacted Dragonfly and there working to getting it replaced. I have nothing bad to say about Dragonfly.
Just installed the Medallion radio on my 2013 Police Electra Glide. After 5 previous bikes, a lot of research trial and error, I think I finally got it right. Medallion Bagger radio, four Hybrid Audio Technologies 6.5" Mirus Statge-1 speakers, driven by Arc Audio 125.2 amp. For about $1,200 total (all necessary parts, nuts and bolts) I ended up with the best sounding system I ever had. Check out my bike on this YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5tFC...ature=youtu.be Make sure you're using good quality sounding speakers or earphones.
