not 100% sure, but I think the dealer has to flash the radio for the other 2 channels. I suspect that the boom has a connector that plugs into the stock system and on the install you didnt connect the orignal speaker input to both channels.

Reason: channel comment
hmm.. the boom amp, can you give me the part # please. To my recollection on these setups, the BA amp plugs into the front outputs of the radio and in doing so disables the rear outputs altogether through it's can bus system.

Since the SG comes with 2 speakers stock, the Rear outputs are turned off in the head unit (thus the reason SG's do not have a fade option)
the Boom kit is totally plug and play and works off wiring harnesses, so that is a good and bad thing.
Since you are not driving the upper and lower fairing speakers off the same channels you need to take the bike in to the dealership and have it flashed/upgraded to turn on the rear channels of the head unit.
that is the reason that we are hearing the hsss of power in the speaker and not getting any sound, there is no signal from the head unit to the lowers, so the boom amp must be a 4 channel.
I've spoken to two different dealerships service depts today and both went out and spoke with their audio techs and everyone agrees. For those of you going to use the boom upgrade with amp AND add lowers, you need to have your radio upgraded/flashed to turn on the rear channels
this is usually not a problem with SG's and 2 channel amps that are bridging both lefts (upper and lower) as one channel and both rights as one channel (for example the ARC 2 channel I am running with my K2's) but because the Boom is using wiring harness and is plug and play, you are not the one routing RF wires from the amp to the speakers.

Well, kinda sorta, not really. The rear outputs are active and useable with the 35 pin connector, 4 pins, and 31 seal plugs but you're right the fader is not active and has to be flashed by the dealer in order to use the BA stuff in the configuration you're speaking of.

It's good for HD sales and bad for everyone else.

this is why I asked whether you were using the rear outputs because when you plug that amp in, you're now at the liberty of the canbus system HD uses. Idiotic IMO.

Good advice, thanks...

I searched and searched and just didn't find the thing we were experiencing
and you were on the correct path, but with the plug and play of wiring harnesses, you just don't know what the HD wires are actually doing, so I couldn't actually answer your question on the rears until the techs answered us.
