Default Polk MM Crossovers

Will the crossovers for the MM651s fit inside the rear speaker pods on an Ultra Classic?

I'm not really wanting to mount them on the front of or inside of the tour pack.

Having just installed mine, i would have to say no. If they did fit there is no way to secure them, they would be rattling around.

no they won't fit inside the stock tourpak pods. They will however fit inside the hogtunes tourpak pods because they're a tad bit larger

Thanks for the replies.

I really don't want the cross-overs "exposed" or in the tour pak.

What about using the DX series in the pods, with MM651s in batwing, powered by PN4.520D? Even though the DXs are 4 ohm, they can't help but be better than the stock units and should provide decent fill-in sound. Any real CONS in doing this?

You could always put the xovers in the fairing and run speaker wires to the rears

ya know.. fooling with these lids and the "new" crossovers I have to install for them as well, got me to thinking. I don't think I tried to mount the tourpak pod crossovers to the inside top of the tourpak pod. Anyone verify this so I don't have to pull mine apart? :-)

Hey Ultra, you might just as well pull yours apart as you are gonna do it anyway.

I'd actually considered this option but didn't want to run new wiring or splice in to the existing wires in the fairing.

UltraNutZ:

I was wondering if you were over-come by curiosity and checked to see if the cross-overs will fit it the rear speaker pods?

Inquiring Minds want to Know.

FYI: After much deliberation, I went the 4 channel route and ordered the PN4.520D.

Polk MM651s in the fairing for sure and still deliberating the rears.
