I suggest you elongate the area of the bracket that needs it so you don't have to press down.
The problem is likely HD' s poor/loose specs. For example,some, but not all, HK radios hit the riser bolts and led HD to introduce riser bolts with a shorter head to provide added clearance.
Yea it appears the 36 pin adapter that comes with the ipod kit from iron cross is just so big. It is basically a jumper harness to get their controls to work with the head unit. I tucked everything under the bottom bracket and the fairing seemed to go on better. What bothers me is that I am doing all this without having the headlight even plugged in so I know that is going to take up even more space. I just need to spend more time running the wires to the side of the radio/bracket and then zip tie the crap out of stuff. below the bracket there is room but if you put too much down there then you have trouble turning the bars without something feeling like it is binding. Didn't realize this would be the toughest part of this project.
This product is designed, from a wiring standpoint, with any '06 or newer model fairing.bike. For example, an Ultra will come stock with a 35 wire connector plugged into the radio for the rear speakers, passenger contols, etc. On the other hand, all non- Ultras have no 35 position connector.
Because the harness supplied with this product, it will work with both Ultra and non-Ultra models.
HD deals with the Ultra and non-Ultra difference (one has the 35 wire connector already and the others don't For the Ultra, no additional harness is necessary to install the HD module, all that is required is to insert additional wires into the existing 35 wire connector.
On non-Ultras, HD offers a harness that includes the 35 wire connector and only 5 or so wires for the iPod.
If you want to greatly reduce the bulky wiring of the product, buy the HD harness, de-pin the iPod module from ICA, and using only the wires from module, connect them to the HD harness. I bet if you called Tony at ICA he could get everything you need.

Carl thanks for the reply no worries about the iphone. I type just as bad on mine. I may end up doing that but I really did not route the wires very well. Took the fairing off yesterday but was more interested in NCAA than working on the bike. I already cut and spliced into the 35 pin harness that came with the unit. I did this so if I ever intend to use the original 35 pin connector to the bike I can without worrying about a cut/spliced harness. I connected my rear channel wires out from amp inbetween the ICA harness connectors that run back to the speakers. It was easy enough I just needed to make sure I cut the right wires as the ICA harness has different colored wires. So I guess what I am saying is I already cut and spliced wires to make the ICA harness work. I will get it to fit back together one way or another. I also still need to hook the positive and negative power connectors to the Ipod unit. I don't like the fact that they want you to splice into the other radio connector to pick up the power for the unit.............Sorry I am dragging this out. I wish I would of thought of using your suggestion from the get go though..............
I remounted my radio and lifted up on it to get the most clearance available. I also found the inner fairing was drooping a tad since I removed the turn signal lights and the mounts off the forks. I lifted up on the inner fairing and bolted it down and was able to mount Scott's bracket. It looks like it was enough to not cause the huge flex that was occurring before. The Fork Stem Nut barely hits the base of Scotts mount but it doesn't bind now!
