No,......they are an older, now discontinued Pioneer Premier 2 way speaker , low range 28Hz...................had buddies try 61/2 inch subs, and 6X9 subs ,.....they didn't sound as good as what we were running......they replaced them......

100% agree with GP. I haven't heard his system but I have talked to him quite extensively and he obviously knows what he's talking about so I truly believe it sounds as good as he tells me it does with those Pioneer's back there.

On a side note, I just installed a pair of 6x9s in the lids of my FLHTK over the weekend. The bass is stupidly clear and clean. The key as GP pointed out is POWER. If you try to do this with an amp that under powers the speakers, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Did you use a aftermarket lid or a harley lid with an adapter? That may be the bass im looking for. Would it matter if they would go in the lid like yours or on the side of the saddle bag like GP? Looks like I will be going over budget lol.

I bought the Cycle Sounds lids, but I'll tell you and I'll post later on my fiasco with them, that I won't recommend their lids to anyone. Dragonfly Cycle Concepts has the "By Nine" lids and offers a 10% discount to forum members (if I had known that or remembered that when I ordered, I would have gone with DF) and their lids are better IMO. Either PM DragonFly2000 (Kevin) on here or go to their website.

As for whether top firing or inward firing; man I really don't know. I like mine, GP likes his. GP IMO has a better setup with 2 6x9s in each bag and a ton of power pushing them, and he's right about the low frequency response specs on those Pioneer 6x9s being better than any I've seen as well.

If you want bass, then I'd opt to go the way GP did by installing 2 pair in each saddlebag firing inward, I just didn't want to give up the storage space. If you go with the SS amp (or any amp that will handle a 2 ohm load) then you can wire each saddlebag in parallel to create a 2 ohm load at the amp.

Thank you. My plans are to do the head unit fairing speakers and rear pod speakers. Speakers on the ss amp. Then maybe next winter the lids do I need another amp or just put a bigger one in to start with? Polk speakers in the fairing and pods

If you buy anything other than a Sony/Alpine, call both BT and HW and check for compatibility before buying.

The Sony DSX-S210BTX and 310BTX both have a USB input on the front of them so if your Samsung has a USB output (or a cable that goes from your phone to USB), you will have control of it through the handlebar controls.

As for waterproof... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/11050039-post7.html
I have found an alpine radio that I like but it only has two out puts will it work? Its alpine cde-hd138bt if you think I won't work I will keep looking. I'm trying to find the Bluetooth and a cd player all in one. I like the sony 310 you stated above but no cd player

according to the specs, it has 3 sets of 4v RCA outputs so yeah it'll be perfect. Call BT or HW whomever you're going to get your handlebar control kit from and make sure of the compatibility with their product. I don't think it will be an issue.

I was telling one of my riding buddys about the ss amp and polk speakers. and he said he was also looking at doing a system and he was looking at the memphis special application amp and focal 130 pc. But he was wondering what you thoughts were about that or if he should go the same system that Im going to do. I think he has a sony deck already

don't know anything about them. I know they've been around for a while as I used to have guys bring this stuff into my shop for installation back in the 80s so they must be doing something right. I also can't seem to find an owners manual for the 16-SA4.50 which I'm assuming is the amp you're referring to so I can look at full specs but first glance tells me that <65db signal - noise ratio is not very impressive but a THD of .05% @ 4ohms is good. Most decent amps will have a SNR above >70, higher is better and a THD rating of .05 or higher with lower being better.

With all that said, I think it's a viable option with it's ratings being 50x4 @4 ohms and 75x4 @ 2ohms, and physical size being 4.4" W x 5.4" L x 1.5" H. I think what's going to take it out of the market for most is the price tag at $300 and the fact that I can't find it for sale anywhere online and it was supposed to be out to the masses in January 2013.
