Several weeks ago, I added the Soundstream amp and Polk db651's. Just now I was looking at another thread, and it mentioned the db651's are 4 ohm, and the mm651's are 2 ohm. UltraNutz did the install for me, along with the Sony 310. I'm a audio noob, but I believe the amp is bridged. At any rate, it sounded great, but the next day I popped the right one (fairing mounted only). I turned the gain down a bit and put in a right db651. Sounded good with the accessory switch on, but when it's fired up I hear ignition noise on that one side. Last week I popped the left side, and replaced that one too. In addition, I lost all radio reception. I can stream my phone, but it's a drag to not be able to use the radio. Should I be running 2 ohm speakers? Anyone else have the reception issues with the Soundstream amp? Kinda at a loss on what to do next....
John what did you pay for the amp sir? If the price is reasonable, I'll just buy it from you to use elsewhere and you can look at a different amp.
I haven't used my radio since my installation of the Soundstream & Polk MM's, so I guess I'd better go see if I'm having reception issues with the stock Harley head unit.
I'm interested in the results here too. Especially since neither Walt or I had these issues with FM reception using stock whip antennas on either the stock radio or the Sony.

Let us know WestTexasRanger.
Interested here too.....using stock radio and stock whips....
Amp literally wipes out FM reception. Other than that I love it!

I just tested the radio and all FM stations are coming through Loud & Clear.
I'm running the stock HD radio with the new version of the Soundstream 520 on my 2011 Ultra Classic with stock antennas.
I'm at a loss at to what to say or recommend for those with loss of signal other than possibly adding a powered FM antenna amplifier. They're not that expensive and in fact most are around $15 to $30 on Amazon.
Hmmmm. I wonder where the glitch here is. I have the old style amp. I have an 06 and I just checked the software tonight and it is the 8.19 version, so we are running different software versions. It would be nice to find the actual reason behind some being affected and some not. I sure would love to keep the SS amp and FM

Are you referring to the software version of your factory radio and if so, how do you check this?
You're riding a 2006 model?
No FM reception may be a good excuse to trade for a 2013 model!

As my 2006 ultra has no ""fade" in the audio options. He suggested checking my software. I havent updated yet. Not sure if it will change anything or not, but.......

I'll take that under consideration, but first I'm going to try an antenna as Ultra suggested. I don't recall exactly what I paid, but it wasn't all that much on Amazon.com. I'm sure we can work something out if the antenna doesn't work out.

well you want the latest software on your headunit when it's available. Not sure it's going to help with FM but it's certainly worth a try.
The fade option is going to have to be done/programmed by the dealer.
