I have a 2012 Ultra Classic Limited and want to replace the stock system with something that kicks azz. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to get. My budget is around $2000. I was thinking of adding lower fairing speakers, lid speakers and subs ( I like good bass). Also, I've seen the tweeters that replace the temp and oil pressure gauges on either side of the radio. Any thoughts?
Don't waste your time with 'subs'.........GREAT bass can be had with 6X9's, ..if the the freq is low enough, and they have PLENTY of POWER !!.........How much space are you willing to sacrifice ?/ Check out the link to my build in my signature line........... Can't be done for $2K,....but you'll get some greart ideas !!
I read thru your link and have to give you props on a great setup Galcierpearl. It gave me a lot to think about. I'm not that knowledgeable about the different head units, amps, crossovers, etc. Not sure what combo would give me the best sound. I guess I have some research to do. I'm sure I'll be posting more questions. Thanks!
You could spend ALL day searching through threads on here !! GREAT ADVICE from many different people.......... Your ears will tell you what is the best set-up for you.....At least you have some scratch to work with !!!
Once you decide on WHAT you want your system to be,.....the rest will fall into place !!
Ok. After some reading on the forum and some research I was thinking of the SS PN4.520D amp, Polk MM651s for the fairing and the tour pack pods and for the saddlebags I was looking at Infinity Kappa 693.9i 6x9's. I haven't looked into lower fairing pods and what speakers would be good there yet. How's this sound so far?

The key thing here is you want to match speakers to the amp to be able to utilize the amp to it's fullest.
Are you wanting to do 8 speakers total?
2 fairing, 2 lowers, 2 tour pak pods, 2 saddlebags.
At first I was thinking of replacing the stock fairing and tour pak pod speakers and adding tweeters in the fairing, lowers, the 6x9's in the bags and lid speakers. That would be 12 total. I was thinking more is better. The more I read the more I find that more is not necessarily better, just more noise. I want a a great sounding system without going overboard. So far the 8 speakers that you listed sounds like a solid system. Would adding the tweeters and lids improve on the sound quality? I usually ride without the tour pak.
