I got 2 sets fairing and lowers..... I got the ss 520 I got my gains set at about 11 o'clock and the crossover set on hp. The reason I've got mine on hp is it still lets 80k frequency through which in my experience u really aren't gonna hear anything below that from a free air 6.5 speaker maybe I'm wrong but I've had mine running like this for prob 1 month but around 2000 miles and I only ride mine with the stereo cranked I have a Sony deck and my fader set to the lowers I think likE 4 and it goes to 10. I've had no problems at all...fingers crossed though haha.....what I have noticed is all the bad speakers it seems like they have the crossover set on fp maybe that's the problem
I've had no problems with my 651's...yet.
I blew a 6501 in the lowers, but that may be the fault of a faulty SS amp.
I'm putting my system back together right now. Like Derk I'm going to set the amp to HP at about 80. I'm thinking this might be a key variable.
I'll keep an eye on this thread and report any issues.
RF PBR 300x2. MM651's in fairing and rear pods, but only powering fairings with the amp.. No problems with either set so far. About 3000 miles. Gains set at around 11 o'clock position. Never running without music of various genres, but mostly hard rock/metal.
I have had my 651s for almost 4 years, still working fine. Wet sounds Syn micro amp 125 watts.
Same set-up, but for 3 years on the 651's, added 691's to the bags last year and no problems with anything. Listen to all kinds of music, and loud...lol
I have the RF PBR300x2/MM651 combo with over 3000 miles and zero problems so far. I've got the RF set to HP and the freq between 60-70hz and AVC at two bars. In fact, I've installed three RF/Polk combos and one SS/Polk combo with no issues to date. The MM651's were all purchased from Sonicelectronix and the amps are all set to HP.
