Did some tinkering yesterday. removed the LOC, reinstalled the bt355, using version 1.19.0 (thank you forum resources!!). I'm also reflashed for 0 amps and 4 speakers. I marked the factory location for the gains on the bt355 and turned the volume up 3-4 clicks from max (boom 4.3) and started turning the gains up. I'll be damned, back to factory marks was perfect. Super loud, clear, not much distortion at all actually. I never ride with it that high, but good to know it can do it. Out with the lady last night and I had the music up a little over 1/2 way and it was nice and clear. bass was 3 bars, treble was right in the middle ( I had to turn it down, was a little to "bright" for my liking). I'll ride it around a few more days, but I'm pretty happy with this setup. Only thing I'm turned off by is the lower fairing speakers. They benefit the passenger, but as a rider I hardly notice them : (

Good to see it's sounding better. The default marks on the LL are very close to where you want to be. You will want to tune the distortion out. Fade to each pair of speakers to determine where the distortions is coming from and reduce the gain setting on the LL until the distortion is gone. On the stock HU you should be distortion free up to volume 15.

The BT6.5's tend to on the bright side. As far as the lowers fading out, that is the nature of the beast for most speakers in that location.

I agree with all the above. I'm happy with how it sounds now, maybe down the road I'll change the speakers out to hertz or w/e, but I'm pleased with it now. I'll see how my round trip from CT to Montreal and back via Maine goes in 2 weeks. That's lots of miles to listen to music or nothing at all.

(side note: were you on the XLForum before Bert?..I swear your name is familiar to me..)

That would be a really to test! Just keep the volume at a distortion free levels. Enjoy your trip.

Default front speaker pods

SO do we really need to have the 3 MF bolts for the front speaker pods? As I count it there is 3 on the out side which holds them really well. Then the two in the middle on the sides. Why does there need to be three under the damn radio? I still have my front end apart from installing my amp switch sounds awesome. Am I ok to just leave one bolt in the bottom or should I fight to put the other two in???? Any ideas???
Also is it worth it to put in the poly fill in the pods? Whats is your take on that???

Thanks

It's not that hard with a 1/4" drive ratchet, long extension(s), swivel and socket.

Yes, get it back in there, it's structural and you want as little vibration as possible.

I have found that a flex head ratchet wrench makes the job easier as well.

On a 2014 SGS do I need to flash the HU back to stock before installing a BT LL? The dealer flashed the unit a while back.

I am running xbr300x2 with Kappa's 62.11i, after installing the BT LL the sound is worse than without it, I did a radio reset as recommended by BT and play with the gain freq still sound is very flat with no bass at all.
