After all this reading I am still not quite sure on what I need. I got a 14 street glide with the 4.3 radio. I'm think I'm wanting to put the Rockford pbr300x4 amp in the fairing with the infinity kappas in the fairing speaker spots with the boom grills. I just got the sadde bag lids from harley and my questions are do I only need one magic box to run that system ? And for rear speakers can I mix ohms since the front ones will be 2 ohms can the rear be 4ohms or have to be 2 ohms ? And any good 5x7 speakers that fit decent at a decent price ? Thanks
First of all welcome to the Audio Forum.
Second you would do better to start a new thread with your new build questions.
The pbr300x4 is out. There are much better amp choices.
V-twin Audio sell adapters to install 6x9 speakers in the HD lids.
The best advise is don't purchase anything else until the folks hear help you come up with a plan. Here are a few questions that will help us with a plan.
Budget?
Do you plan on sticking with the 4.3 radio?
Type of music mostly listened to?
Do you plan on doing the install yourself?
And what are your expectations of this install?
Yes unfortunately this is the nature of the beast. HD has the Infotainment system set to run a .bin file that controls the EQ when the bike is on ACC so it sounds it's best on the showroom floor. Another .bin file takes control of the EQ when the bike is running to protect the crappy stock speakers from blowing up.
Here are a few questions that may be helpful.
What year and model bike?
How many speakers?
Has the bike ever been Flashed by the dealer?
Was the HU reset after installing software version 1.19.0?
Are the LL set to default?
Just thinking out loud here... might there be a way to fool the system into thinking the bike is on ACC even when the engine is running? That way you would stay on the better sounding .bin file while riding.
Just installed Hogtunes speakers front and rear on my 14 Ultra. Got the speakers at a really good price. Also added BT line levelers. I used the BT breakout harness and added an Aline 445u 4 channel amp. All pretty much plug and play. Sounds great. Crisp and really clean sound. Won't blow your ear drums out but sounds great and it is crystal clear at highway speeds. Exactly what I was looking for.
Assuming for a 6.5 system that 1.19.0 is still the recommended software version, could someone please send or post an updated download link? All of the links I've found across this site and others are dead. I'm currently running 1.19.2 and see that 1.20.3 is out now too....
For a '14 SGS with upper fairing, lower fairing, and soon to add saddlebag speaker lids....is the 02_OFF.bin configuration the recommended flash? I've read so many years of threads in a few short evenings that it's confusing. If that's the recommended one, can someone please just confirm the options I need to tell Harley to choose inside DT when I take my bike in? Thanks!

If this is for a Boom Stage 1 system adding a second amp just go in and tell them what you're doing. It is very simply the "2 amp, 6 speaker flash". This will enable your fade control back to the second amp/lids.
If this is for an aftermarket amp and speaker setup and you are using a BT Breakout harness and 2 line levelers, you should ask for the "stock Ultra flash'/no amps 4 speakers (front and rear)" which will set the system for front and rear fade ability and the breakout harness then takes the signal and gives you your fade front/rear
I suspect this is a Boom amp configuration and rather than get technical with the dealer about what .BIN file to adjust, just tell them what you're doing and they will know that you need a 2 amp/6 speaker flash (which I believe is the same as the 2 amp/8 speaker flash actually)

Tell the dealer tech you want the same flash as Ultra models. 0 Amps, 4 speakers and enable Fade.
