I am looking to upgrade from my stock head unit, and going to use biketronics retro radio kit for sonys. So.... can anyone recommend a model#. I need a cd player, one output for an amp and a usb input on the face.... other than that, the simpler the better.
I just got the MEX-GS600BT and like it so far. LOTS of whistles and bells, almost too many. It does not recognize my Galaxy S3 through USB but I can overcome that by using bluetooth. The USB is loooong cable/dongle on the back of the unit that you can route anywhere. I made a very small half moon notch with my Dremel (so it wouldn't pinch the cable) in the inner fairing right at the center windshield hole and have it routed there and hide the cable in my fairing pouch. You don't even know it's there. I got it new off eBay for $135 shipped but haven't seen that good of deal since I got it a few weeks ago. One last thing. Make sure to put the security screw in the side of the unit so the face plate cannot be taken out, unless you want to be able to remove it.

Thanks for the input.... don't want the usb cable... gonna put my music on a thumb drive... would like that on the face.
I Like the Sony DSX-310BTX. It doesn't have a cd player, but has a tune tray that you can put your iPhone, iPod, or thumbdrive inside the face. It also has a USB port right on the front.

Gotcha. I have music on a jump drive too in my windshield bag that plugs into the USB cable. It's tucked out of the way so it's nice and clean but if you don't have a windshield bag they you can't hide the cord. I already had micro USB cable run for my phone that mounts on the fairing and both are hidden.

There's a gt570up on flebay for $79...nib. seems like a good deal. Anyone have this Model?
it's a good unit, yes...
make sure you get some sort of rain shield for the head unit. I don't care what they say about "marine grade" stuff, if the face gets wet you're f%^ked.
