I recently added XM to my Zumo 550, and trying to figure where to put my antenna. I have an Alpine amp on to of my radio now. There is not enough room to put both on top of the radio and clear the fairing. I'm thinking of the top of the side brace, but not enough surface for the magnet to hold in place. I guess I could double stick tape it?
I have an XM antenna, under the fairing of my Ultra (sitting on the radio) but you probably don't have room.
I could have placed it on the CB.
I would lose signal when riding certain directions. Didn't lose it for long but still, I lost it.
Got tired of that problem so I mounted a small strip of metal to the screw of the grip controls.
Big enough to have the magnetic base sit on the strip.
Now I don't lose the signal.
It's black and small. Don't even notice it.
Now I have an extra under the fairing (unused). I just don't want to take the fairing apart to reclaim it.
