Default Is the J&M Rokker worth the big bucks?

Im getting a 14 Street Glide Special in the upcoming weeks, and Im looking forward to changing out the stereo system, one of my options is to used a 1500 store credit at a local stereo shop familiar in doing bike stereos builds. However I can also use that money to put the stereo equipment into my car and go with the complete J&M Rokker kit which prices well over 1500 but with our forum discount it prices right about that mark.

I know a lot of people dislike John due to his constant pushing of his product(it is kind of annoying), but if I was a ice salesman trying to sell ice to an eskimo, I'd say I had the best ice in the world. I cant blame the guy for trying. All I'm looking for is to see if members on this board have his system and are they happy with it.

I dont mind spending that kind of dough, if it's going to achieve what Im looking for, and more so I do not want to hack up the electrical system in my +24k plus bike. Thoughts, opinions are welcomed.

Definitely a YMMV question but for me the system was outstanding in my Road Glide. I also saw John as a great resource for my many questions

LOL This is a trick question. . . Some people believe it or not, think buying a Harley is "Not worth the big bucks" Everybody I know who has the JM system loves it to death!

As far as hacking up your stock wiring, I have two amps and 6 speakers without splicing or cutting into a single stock wire. The creative use of quick disconnects goes a long way, so plug and play is a bit overrated if you don't mind spending the time thinking through your project. The Biketronics stuff is really nice and I am sure the J&M is a much easier install, but I had a crapload of fun putting my system together for less than half of what that Rokker setup would cost you.

If I sell or trade the bike, I can pull everything out and put it back to it's stock configuration withouth any evidence that it had been changed, so wouldn't let that interfere with a decision to go outside the plug and play world.

I didnt put the rokker system in. I put the amp and fairing speaker kit in. It was truly plug and play and sounds great to me. Alot clearer than the factory plus at half volume its as loud to me as the stock setup was all the way up. The only thing I didnt really like was they was not made in the USA. But it is hard to find anything really made here anymore and if they was I am sure it would cost more.

JC ,,,,,,,

OK , I won't blow my horn too loud on this one ,,,,,,,

take a look at the photos below of my new 500w 6-spkr 2014 StreetGlide ,,,,, and if you cannot get to Daytona beach next weekend, have one of your friends stop by the big J&M audio trailer and listen to this 2014 Daytona Blue ROKKER XX StreetGlide, then decide for yourself if it is worth it or not ,,,,,,

we will be set up in our normal spot on the sound end of the vendor lot, at Rossmeyer's HD, exit 273, off I-95 in Ormond Beach ,,,,,,

If it were me, I'd ride the bike for awhile before deciding what changes to make. The audio in the 2014 SG Special sounded fairly decent to me when I heard it. Also, I would not want to lose any functionality of the new infotainment system.

Might not be the answer you're looking for, but my stock 09 HK stereo w/HogTunes speakers and aftermarket antenna suit me fine...$1500 saved. Wait, the speakers were $100 & antenna was $25 so $1375 saved.

You're out on the open road enjoying life pass you by so why not enjoy what you have, save some money and just ride...??

I installed the Rokker xt-p 250 and love it. Sounds great out of the box and easy to install. You will need to upgrade your speakers to HD Boom 6.5" or similar. Factory speakers will not cut it.
