When you get insurance you tell the agent what's on the title and nuthin else. He ain't gonna cover your mods anyway so why pay more for insurance based on displacement?

i know there was a good sized difference between my old 96" and the 103" i bought last year. insurance agent said 100 inches was their company's point for a price increase. did not seem right and i went with a different company.

I originally did this. Then when speaking with the agent she said when they come to appraise the bike after a wreck or whatever if they find out mods have been done the policy is no longer valid and I get nothing.
Its a shitty situation because these place will insure 1000cc crotch rockets but not my HD just based on cc's ....
Try calling Drew at afterdark cycles in Edmonton (780-441-3666), maybe they can recommend someone as they build custom bikes & someone has to insure them.
I have also heard of a guy in Rocky Mountain house that appraises for an insurance company on bikes that have been built up.
I found that Harley-Davidson's insurance (secretly Progressive) was the best option if you are a risk. Don't go straight to Progressive, go through the Harley provided number. Their quote blew away everyone else. The price was a few hundred less, but their liability coverage was more than double everyone else. Worth a phone call.
I have insurance through State Farm and they've never looked at the 40 or so bikes I've insured with them. I give them the info off the title, send them a check and I'm insured.
Insurance Agents are a lot like cops. Give either one of them too much information and you could be f*ckin yourself.
