I did the same thing on my '72 Superglide, and it is really quite easy. I got the "kit" from the HD dealer, and it is pretty much an hour bolt on solution. You will need a new inspection plate for the outer primary, and you will need to be careful in bending the brake line, or buy a new brake line for the new forward controls.
thanks for the tip man...I just didn't have any idea where to start. I didn't think the dealer would help me with an old shovel, but hey I guess it's worth a shot.
what kinda shape is your 72' in? Do you have the big rear fender or the slimed down one?
If you're going to do this right you have to pull the inner primary to remove the shifter shaft and plug the hole and change the shift rod to the trans. not so simple to do the job right. Dilbert, what did ya do just cut off the shifter shaft? And how did you deal with the shift rod on the ratchet lid? Just curious[&:]
You might try, Dennis Kirk, Fog hollow, JP cycles, VTwin, custom chrome, Drag specialties, maybe if you do a google search for HD parts , you could locate them
