Default Need Help Getting Sap Off Tank

Anyone have a good way to get tree sap off paint without leaving swirls? I rode my bike into work and the designated motorcycle parking area happens to be right under a tree that drips sap. Needless to say I was not happy when I saw what looked like water drops on my tank, but instead was sap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Most any cleaner is going to work..let it soak for a few minutes. You might try saturating a rag or towel and laying it on the areas. Remember that you will probaly remove any sealant or wax you have on there and it will need to be reapplied.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the replies. I'll give it a try when I get home. Will the WD-40 hurt the paint at all? Is it safer to just stick to regular cleaner?

WD40 do have kerosene in it..but..people have been using kerosene for years to remove tar from paint. If you do go that route just remember to re-wash with soap and water and reapply wax.

As 3 dog said, If you use the WD 40 yu will then have to wash it off. I have always had luck getting sap off either the car or the bike with car wash soap and warm water, I personally would skip the W.D.40.

Seriously "mayonnaise" it works fast and is easy to clean off after the sap is gone and does not affect the wax.

If any of the above dont work, go to napa, they have what they call a clay stick, follow the directions and you wont beleive the relults. A freind of mine used it on his ford truck, and I couldnt beleive the diff. looked and felt like new paint.
