Ive used the PC on everything I own.......great results. Just like every other tool ya got, just pay attention to what your doing.
Also, I have bought a lot of products from a place called Griot's Garage. Great stuff, google it and have a look. I have used most of the detailing products they offer. The "compounds" work very well.....very very fine and almost disappear as you use them. The leather products are good too.
Good luck

I've used one for years without any problems. I use Poorboy's polishes, they work very well for me.

It sounds to me like you don't need to be using a "rubbing compound" or a orbital buffer. Just try a hand polish first, you can always try the buffer later.

use a pc with 4" pads.....

you have to be an idiot to mess it up....the correct pad/compound combo will not harm the paint if used correctly....

remember, were talking about a detailing device, not a cheapo craftsman buffer that is junk....

no terry bonnets either...use foam pads...

I just got the PC 7424 and the Pinnacle Swirl removal kit from AutoGeek.net. Tried it out on my Vivid black Street Glide and MAN did it do a great job. No more swirl marks! Even took out the mark where the wife kicked the bag lid getting off the first time.

Love It.

Ride Safe,

Mike

I have used nothing but Griots supplies on my cars for years. Now using them on my Ultra.

Check them out at www.griotsgarage.com

I'd be scared to death to use a machine on my new bike but I would like to get some fine scratches out. I used Meguires Cleaner, Polish and Wax, by hand,on mydark metalic blue05 Silverado. It looks nice butdidn't do much on the fine scratches, haven't tried the3 stepson my vividblackbike yet. The bike is new but I would like to get them fine scratches out.

I've had the PC since they came it in the early 90's when it was a "sander", it has now become more popular as a buffer. It is a great product and lets you dial the speed down to some very safe levels for new users. Check out Autogeek.net, they have many different foam pads available in different levels of "firmness". I'm not a professional paint and body man but I have buffed and detailed alot of cars. Here are some things that work for me.

1) Never(ever, ever, ever) use "rubbing compound", or "polishing compound" in the small cans they are much too abrasive in my opinion.

2) I prefer to start with the lightest abrasives and go heavier if needed. I would rather work a little longer with a light abrasive than go heavier. Remember you are essentially removing paint, the less you remove the better you are.

3) Find a Meguiers dealer in you area, they have a great numbered product set that lets you get more aggressive if you need to.

4) Take your time, a burn through on your clear coat will look much worse than the scratches that are there now.
